I was checking google maps around a condo I'm looking at picking up near ASU and saw these 2 buildings which are a company by the name of Lab Corporation. Not only did they design the 2 buildings in the shape of swastikas they lined the roof in what seems to be copper so anyone with a view from above won't miss it...

In all actuality, they probably did it to save property space man. Oh yeah, and swastikas mean peace in many countries.

The architectural firm of Eichmann, Goebbels and Goering does nice work.

wasn't the symbol now known as the swastika actually a Budest, or some other peaceful symbol, before the Nazi's came and bogarted it?

I'm not certain about any of this because it's been a very long time, but I *BELIEVE* many cultures have used the same or similar symbol over a long period of time and well before the Nazis did.

As far as I recall it spans back thousands of years, even predating the Egyptian Ankh. As I remember it, it first shows up in and around ancient Troy some 1000 years BC.

met a girl in thailand who had that tattoed on her wrist and ankle, which freaked me, as a german, out for a moment. but she had never even heard about nazis (which made me think about the school system in Thailand).

Regardless of how far back the swastika goes... I think it's pretty safe to say those buildings were built after the late 1930...

The point being, that not everyone sees that as a swastika.

dont the Asian swastikas point in the opposite direction? Or maybe some do and some dont. I think I have also seen the swastika as an ancient native American symbol as well.

I think you should show everyone how proud you are of your knowledge of ancient Asian culture and religion and walk around wearing a swastika anywhere in North America or Europe and see how you fair.

That symbol has been re-branded to something far different than it's original intent, there aren't many people in the southern united states that realize it's origin.

And architects and designers have been EDUCATED to the fact that it is a design element, like a cross or circle. That shape has been used for centuries in design.

When you see it as a racist symbol, you are supporting one jerk's use of it (hitler/swastika) and further continuing to give him credit for it. It's NOT just his symbol. It is a design element, especially used in architecture for wings of a building. It creates a solid structure that way, nothing to do with racism. Nothing.

Yeah, yeah, ancient peace symbol, blah, blah blah makes for a solid structure, whatever... I found buildings shaped like swastika and thought it was amusing and wanted to share it.

As far as giving the hitler and the nazi party credit for the swastika, he did a much better job at branding it than anyone else so he get's the prize.
