Racist Architect, this couldn't be an accident (pic)

I was checking google maps around a condo I'm looking at picking up near ASU and saw these 2 buildings which are a company by the name of Lab Corporation. Not only did they design the 2 buildings in the shape of swastikas they lined the roof in what seems to be copper so anyone with a view from above won't miss it...

Here is a picture of the architect

In all actuality, they probably did it to save property space man. Oh yeah, and swastikas mean peace in many countries.

L-Pink 08-29-2011 07:39 AM

The architectural firm of Eichmann, Goebbels and Goering does nice work.

gleem 08-29-2011 07:57 AM

a little nazi architecture never hurt anyone.... assuming there's no big smoke clouds coming out of it ;)

96ukssob 08-29-2011 08:00 AM

look at that cross on the left! how dare they mix religion and architecture!!

Sly 08-29-2011 08:06 AM

I would think it's those ceramic tiles and not copper.

Yeah tiles makes a lot more sense than metal that would become hot as hell.

Phoenix 08-29-2011 08:45 AM

there are a bunch of buildings like that
i wonder if the design makes sense

ReggieDurango 08-29-2011 08:49 AM

wasn't the symbol now known as the swastika actually a Budest, or some other peaceful symbol, before the Nazi's came and bogarted it?

I'm not certain about any of this because it's been a very long time, but I *BELIEVE* many cultures have used the same or similar symbol over a long period of time and well before the Nazis did.

As far as I recall it spans back thousands of years, even predating the Egyptian Ankh. As I remember it, it first shows up in and around ancient Troy some 1000 years BC.

Yeah it was but the Nazi party had better branding than the Buddhists and kinda ruined it for them. It's all about branding :thumbsup

Shey 08-29-2011 09:10 AM

It's in a couple of my favorite Indian restaurants, no skin heads working there :)

Moose 08-29-2011 09:21 AM

met a girl in thailand who had that tattoed on her wrist and ankle, which freaked me, as a german, out for a moment. but she had never even heard about nazis (which made me think about the school system in Thailand).

baddog 08-29-2011 09:42 AM

It goes back to biblical times.

marketsmart 08-29-2011 10:05 AM

jesus was a nazi...

most people dont know that...

.

LAJ 08-29-2011 10:37 AM

Regardless of how far back the swastika goes... I think it's pretty safe to say those buildings were built after the late 1930...

baddog 08-29-2011 10:43 AM

The point being, that not everyone sees that as a swastika.

scottybuzz 08-29-2011 10:50 AM

a swastika is one way peace symbols are the other way

Yes it was a symbol of peace not death.

dont the Asian swastikas point in the opposite direction? Or maybe some do and some dont. I think I have also seen the swastika as an ancient native American symbol as well.

oh yeah, found it on wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika

so not necessarily racist although I think it most widely recognized as a symbol of the Nazi's and probably not in the best taste as an architectural form :2 cents:

if you want to see these buildings on google maps the address is;
Ste E5, 5620 W Thunderbird Rd
Glendale, AZ 85306

woj 08-29-2011 01:25 PM

actually seems like an efficient design...

I think you should show everyone how proud you are of your knowledge of ancient Asian culture and religion and walk around wearing a swastika anywhere in North America or Europe and see how you fair.

That symbol has been re-branded to something far different than it's original intent, there aren't many people in the southern united states that realize it's origin.

harvey 08-29-2011 01:48 PM

I only see a big black cock at the bottom of the picture, that's reverse racism against whiteys like me

And architects and designers have been EDUCATED to the fact that it is a design element, like a cross or circle. That shape has been used for centuries in design.

When you see it as a racist symbol, you are supporting one jerk's use of it (hitler/swastika) and further continuing to give him credit for it. It's NOT just his symbol. It is a design element, especially used in architecture for wings of a building. It creates a solid structure that way, nothing to do with racism. Nothing.

Now quit being so racist by giving credit to racists. Learning is good.

John-ACWM 08-30-2011 07:56 AM

Yeah, yeah, ancient peace symbol, blah, blah blah makes for a solid structure, whatever... I found buildings shaped like swastika and thought it was amusing and wanted to share it.

As far as giving the hitler and the nazi party credit for the swastika, he did a much better job at branding it than anyone else so he get's the prize.

arock10 08-30-2011 08:17 AM

people need to bring back the hitler stache
