I use bangtube in several blog and looks awesome.
But it's paid ( totally worth though)

i set this up for spunky with custom youtube video feeds to auto populate via keywords and user account videos.

The theme provides you with simple list of custom fields that you can populate manually or with any import plugin like MunkyTube for example.

So I would say Yes, you can use it for mainstream.

We need a custom field for embed code also.
