AOL's Losses Skyrocket; Turner to Step Down
(AP) - Ted Turner, the billionaire media mogul who pioneered cable television and built CNN, is stepping down as vice chairman of AOL Time Warner Inc. The world's biggest media company made the announcement Wednesday as it reported a staggering fourth-quarter loss of $44.9 billion, largely because of the declining value of the world's biggest media company. More... http://news.yahoo.com/fc?tmpl=fc&cid=34&in=tech&cat=aol motherfucker that is a lot of $ |

I bet he did that to avoid an "Enronish" scandal...that fucker is a thief and liar I'm sure...I bet more and more heads of large coporations will do the same so they don't take heat for the theivery that went down while they sat at the trough.

If there are "Enronish" aspects, I thought it was from the AOL side ... weren't they cooking the books and had to write off a couple of billion in fake profits?

YT, do me a favor and have some one from Dank hit me up either email or icq.
Thanks |

I do agree that a few scumbags (and one ex-scumbag) at AOL need to be taken out with the rest of the trash. Without extensive knowledge of the situation I'd guess Turner stepped down because he's sick of the bullshit, since he is/was the largest individual shareholder in the company. |

Either that or he's slick and smart...I'm sure there was some "book cooking" going on...and when rough times hit and they had such extensive losses that could not be hidden from share holders or investigations, he got out quick enough to seem the hero...as far as a philanthopist, I bet he gives away just enough to allow the tax benefits to justify the loss. That's not a philanthopy in my mind. With the amount of money he's got he could breath a MASSIVE breath of fresh air into some inner city schools (or whatever)...and not even feel a pinch. Fuck, with the amount of money the public school sytem survives on it probably would be his pocket change. |

Brujah,
AOL still sucks. You get bombarded with "Get your own account now" and "AOL Special: $49.99 digital camera" messages EVERY time you sign on and off. They try to shove you shit every which way. Chat rooms are still full of fucking lamers. Now they allow "HOSTS" to gag people, and you see a lot of idiots taking advantage and gagging whoever they want for days, weeks or forever. Service is a bit faster and more reliable than before. I remember back in 99 you could NEVER sign on during the weekend, always a busy signal. The great thing about AOL is their members are generally computer illiterate and somewhat retarded. I noticed that most of my ClickCash signups (IPS) resolve to AOL. The reason they're losing so much money is because they're competing against themselves. They own too much. Thank god for cable.. mmm... |
