Netflix Streaming Question......

Who's using it?

I was browsing through the television shows available for streaming at their site and only saw 18 titles available????

Didn't look like a lot available in all the other categories either.

That the way it is?

Was thinking of giving it a try......

Nope, you're definitely doing something wrong. They have a few thousand titles available for streaming currently. I like the service

Pro tip: ctrl+alt+shift+m lets you pick the quality netflix streams at

They may show limited amount on their site if you are not signed up. When I login there are over 1900 items in the TV shows category for streaming. They are making an effort to move everyone to streaming but if you want popular new releases when they come out DVD is still the way to go. Streaming is good for TV shows, documentaries and movies you don't mind waiting to watch.

I'm not in the US but in Canada there are definitely more than 18 television titles ... depending on what device you are browsing from, I found their menus a bit confusing on a Bluray ... it wasn't really easy to navigate or obvious that there were more than just the few sample titles they gave at first. But there should be way more TV shows there (somewhere).

Little tip for Canadian users... if you use a proxy, you get access to all the US titles.

Thanks for the info.....
I guess the actual members see all the choices

Based on the website not a lot to look at in each of the categories.
They should fix that.
I'd go for the trial in a heartbeat if i saw tons of stuff available.

It's ok. The selection of movies is lacking big, imo. I like the documentaries though.. probably the only thing keeping me there.

blame the studios

Problem with the movies is, even if they had the latest big, dumb hollywood blockbuster I wanted to see -- I still prefer to watch it on Blu Ray at perfect quality with full surround sound.

For documentaries and TV shows, its great.

We stream those and I know what we have in our library which is fairly large and much larger than what they have online. They rotate content in and out while adding new titles but their available library is growing which is already way over 12 titles.

If you want to watch tv stuff, go with Hulu. Netflix online falls way short.

Give it a shot, its definitely worth it. I use it on both TV and iPhone all the time. :2 cents:

I went streaming only when Netflix split the plans last month. They're getting more selections than before so it's worth the $7 IMO.

I thought everyone canceled when netflix raised their prices?

Neflix streaming got a ZERO% price increase.

I use http://instantwatcher.com/ to find titles worth watching.
Television: http://instantwatcher.com/genres/282

mikesinner 08-25-2011 01:40 AM

There are about 50k titles total although I don't know if that includes multiple TV episodes.

Netflix streaming service has been leaps and bounds more than I had expected.

There's always someone streaming something here at my house.

HerPimp 08-25-2011 05:09 AM

Use the computer to add it to the instant que first.
