Mutt 08-22-2011 06:35 AM

oh damn - it was just last week i heard he was coming back in September :(

whether you agreed with his politics or not, and he and his wife were pretty much the definition of 'limousine liberals' or 'champagne socialists he was a likeable guy, always smiling and enthusiastic - which for the NDP was a big change and why they won so many seats this last election.

fuck cancer

rip Jack

Sorry?

Actually when the hell did this happen anyhow? While I was on the Metro?

R.I.P. Jack - regardless of your mindwash, he was to be respected...

:D

TheLegacy 08-22-2011 06:37 AM

He made people feel that a politician cared - not much for his party - but he knew how to gain respect and trust. RIP Jack - will miss your character

wow, he went so fast. it must of been hard for him to keep it all together during the election most likely knowing he didn't have much time.

i am not a fan of the ndp but always liked layton as a person. i was pretty shocked when i saw his picture in the paper a few weeks ago. its crazy how fast cancer can take lives.

But hey - I can't live with the kind of paranoid, exploitive commercial laissez-faire hypocrisy of Bush and Harper so - fuck moi! Hostie!

Yeah it must have been hard. Just shows how strong he was mentally to keep going.

He looked fairly good during the election I thought, but at that last news conference he looked (and even sounded) very bad. Obviously it was.

Socks 08-22-2011 07:07 AM

Wow..

And somewhere... Liberals are shaking hands and toasting with ear to ear grins.

CDSmith 08-22-2011 07:23 AM

I heard this morning that he knew the end was near on Saturday, and on that day he held a 4 hour party conference in his room to go over all the things he envisioned for the NDP party. Say what you want about the party or the guy but damn that's dedication in my book. A consumate caring polititian to the end.

RIP Jack.

Kenny B! 08-22-2011 07:23 AM

Wow 61 thats young, he accomplished a heck of a lot for his party. RIP

d-null 08-22-2011 08:03 AM

the rest of the candidates of the NDP are an embarrassment to anyone that voted for them :2 cents:

magicmike 08-22-2011 08:08 AM

He's a really incredible guy. I was lucky enough to meet him a few times, and he really was as friendly and genuine as everyone says. This is really sad and my thoughts go out to his family and friends. Fucking cancer.

MetaMan 08-22-2011 08:54 AM
