PETA to launch porn site with .xxx domain name
link
Buried in a story about the upcoming .XXX domain names (coming in December) and the concern that some businesses and corporations have over possible cyber-squatters comes an interesting tidbit: PETA is set to launch a porn site, peta.xxx, that will draw attention to the plight of animals.
Many other companies are staking out domain names because they want to protect their trademarks. No one would want someone to accidentally hit the site pepsi.xxx while surfing the web, would they? One the other had, Vivid Video would definitely want the domain name vivid.xxx to use, not to protect against cybersquatters.
PETA has never been shy about using naked celebrities. It has a campaign called "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur," in which celebrities such as Nia Long and others disrobe for a cause. There's also that famous PETA Super Bowl ad promoting vegetarianism which was banned for being too sexy.
Assuming the peta.xxx site comes to pass (and it's been confirmed by PETA), it's unclear who they would get to "perform." Would it be hardcore or softcore? Please, please, no beastiality.
You can watch the famous Super Bowl ad in the sidebar, as well as a video on a photo shoot by Kristen Johnson of "Third Rock from the Sun."
