I've lived in Texas with Perry as governor for eleven years. I voted against Perry. I've never heard anyone, any critics, call him stupid. The problem with Perry, as I see it, is that he's kind of car-salesman slick like Clinton. He's smart and confident, and also smart enough to play both sides. Like Clinton, he's not dumb, but also not trustworthy or forthright.

I see that as almost the opposite of Bush, who would tell you plainly exactly what he thought, no matter how uninformed his thought might be.

Another critism lodged at Perry, if you want some halfway reasonable ones, is that he was first elected as a Democrat. You can therefore make a case that he's not republican enough to run as a republican presidential candidate. Again, that's the opposite of Bush, who would never be elected as a Democrat.

Those are pretty damn good assessments of Perry, Raymor. Wow, we agree...
