Guys: How do you feel about...

...girls wearing makeup?

All the boyfriends I've ever had have told me not to wear makeup. I used to use the basics: lipstick, foundation, powder, and lipstick. But it seemed like each boyfriend had another bit he didn't like. One got me to stop using foundation, the next didn't like lipstick (said he liked my natural lip color), and my current boyfriend detests my eyeliner. I now wear no makeup unless I'm going somewhere that's dim. Even then I only wear the eyeliner.

So, is this a usual guy thing? do guys like makeup or not?

:)

FATPad 01-29-2003 02:50 PM

What if your boyfriends told you they didn't like you wearing clothes at all? Would you go out in public naked, too?

xxxinnovations 01-29-2003 02:51 PM

my girl wears just some makeup I think... too much makeup is no good, unless you're a whore

Spunky 01-29-2003 02:52 PM

I love it...makes my cheeks nice and rosy and my lips so lusious

detoxed 01-29-2003 02:54 PM

depends on the girls face.. some girls look great with no makeup, some girl look good with no makeup, but better with makeup.

pixelminx 01-29-2003 02:55 PM

My boyfriend says he thinks I look better without makeup, and that I don't look like myself with it on, especially the eyeliner. :helpme

I think when guys say that they really mean that they want us to wear makeup that looks more natural...as opposed to the Tammy Faye Baker or heroin chic racoon-eyed look.

Jakke PNG 01-29-2003 03:24 PM

Makeup looks nice, if it's for some 'special occasion', like going out to dine.. and shit.
But if you're just going to get a jug of milk from the store, I don't know why you should wear makeup. :)

Backov 01-29-2003 03:26 PM

Makeup can look fantastic on certain women, but others (like my gf) - it doesn't look as good as no-makeup.. I am always bugging her to not put stuff on.

Cheers,
Backov

Pornwolf 01-29-2003 03:29 PM

If you don't need it don't touch it. You'll be glad you didn't later.

haggard 01-29-2003 03:51 PM

girls should wear makeup all the time. makes them look that much more hotter.

I don't think that's so in my case. I wore only makeup that I thought enhanced the way I look not totally remaking my face. Haha. For example foundation for color, as I'm very fair skinned, lipstick for the same reason, and eyeliner *just a line on the bottom lid* to enhance my eyes, which are huge. Haha. :1orglaugh

I was never into heavy makeup to begin with.

only when you're ready to pull that 1man bukkake scene, the rest of the time au natural is cool with me ;)

Ok, it seems like i's just me...I love my wife in makeup. Not to say that she doesn't look great w/out it, but...

You really should post a pic of you with makeup and without. It would be much easier to help you with the visual thing going.

Oh, and one of you naked too, so we can help you with FATpad's question too. <img SRC="http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif">

Wearing makeup is like admitting you're not good looking enough naturally, and that the only way you can be attractive is with some help from your friends Liz Claiborne and Max Factor.

If your eyes are already "huge" why wear something to bring them out even more???

cherrylula 01-29-2003 04:08 PM

Most men don't understand makeup and think its silly.

But if they should see a pic of their favorite porn star with no makeup, they will probably freak out.

I only wear a little, but I own tons and tons of makeup for some reason. My features and skin are very light. No time for a tan.

But nothing is worse than heavy and poorly applied makeup.

Liz Claiborne is a clothing line, NOT a make up line. And if someone is actually cheap enough to use something ghetto like
Max Factor or other drug store make up they probably deserve to look bad. :1orglaugh

Makeup is effective for gaining attention from people you don't know. "She looks good from a distance." Visually perceptive people are going to see through makeup at a glance. If he's perceptive he'd probably prefer that those who'd overlook you otherwise continue to do so.

cold_ice 01-29-2003 04:18 PM

I think it depends on the lady. Some look good enough not to wear it but some need to cake it on. Women should wear makeup if they are going out for a night on the town. Even if they are staying home a little make doesnt hurt. Ladies dont stop getting yourself all pretty just cuz you have been with your man for a long time.

The problem with makeup is that most women dont know how to wear it, so instead of looking good they look silly. Makeup looks different on every lady so just cuz your friends look good with a certain color it does not mean it will look good on you. Learn what works for you.

Ladies men dont like lipstick cuz it gets all over the place and other women will know were not single. The only place men want to see lipstick is on their....you know!:2 cents:

was going to say the exact same thing. Some chicks need it, some don't. Some know how to apply it, some don't.

No way am I going to pass judgment without a before and after pic. For all I know, you could need a putty knife or a brown paper bag.

I am going to let you ladies in on a little secret. You don't wear make up for us. You wear it for the same reasons that you wear shoes that match your belt and shit like that. You wear that shit for the other girls out there that see you.

I think most women wear make up because they don't get enough sleep (bags), tanning, scars, blemishes, uneven pigment in some areas etc...
So some use it to even everything out :2 cents:

titmowse 01-29-2003 05:54 PM

i think it matters how you feel. if you feel like psyching up for the day with a little enhancement, then that's your option.

Yo Adrian 01-29-2003 05:58 PM

Not big into chicks with makeup.....maybe it's 'cause all the women in my family, excluding my wife, wear WAY too much. I guess it's cool if it's just to enhance features or whatever...not when it's to cover up flaws....

Women don't have the luxury of "touching up" their flaws in real life like they do in the media.
All we have is make up so we use it.

I personally don't wear a lot (lip gloss: gives your lips a more kissable look and mascara:darkens up your lashes ).
I know that some women do, and don't know how to apply it.
Some ppl need it more then others
:2 cents:

Undutchable 01-29-2003 06:17 PM

With the risk of sounding like an asskisser; the pics Ive seen from your pixel were pretty good. You're a natural beauty and as such you should NOT wear make-up. I've had a few exes who were natural beauties and I told them the same. Don't touch up the Mona Lisa, you can only make it worse

As for the other chicks (ie non-natural beauties) reading this, I agree with cold_ice: Please wear your masks at all time :)

Eric is absolutely right. I'll admit it, girls like to compete with other girls about who's hotter and so forth etc. Not only am I like that, but all my friends are like that too. I'm not lame enough to wanna compete with girls on a messageboard, but in real life, I'll admit, girls compete A LOT. I'm not speaking for all girls, but I admit it, I do.

And make up does NOT look disgusting up close when you know how to apply it. If you go and buy some cheap CoverGirl stuff from Sav-On you probably WILL look disgusting, but if you know
how to pick EXACT colours that match your skin and so forth, you will look GOOD. If you need a foundation that matches you exactly, just get colorprinted at a Prescriptives counter, and check your foundation and colours in NATURAL DAYLIGHT not under store lighting. And it makes a BIG difference with what kind of tools you apply make up with, if you use good tools like MAC brushes it can help you apply your make up much better.

Sometimes a lot of celebs wear a TON of make up and it looks like they are not wearing anything. I know Catherine Zeta Jones make up artist uses a thousand dollar machine that sprays on her foundation, so that it goes on more evenly and finely than you could ever do with a sponge, and Jennifer Lopez always likes to use bronzer and highlighter to make her face "glow". They may look like they are somewhat natural but they are NOT.

Anyways, I really could care less what guys think, I do as I please regardless.

Libertine 01-29-2003 07:48 PM

Nina once said she was afraid GFY would lose it's edge if too many women came there. She was right.

I have nothing to prove to people on a message board, and I really could care less what people on a message board think about me. I'm not at an attention whore and I don't need to post pics of myself on a board in order for people to see if "i know my colors or not". Frankly, I just don't give a damn.

xxxdesign-net 01-29-2003 08:46 PM

Well, simple... very light mackup at first, first dates...
Because you might get dumped real fast if you look like those pictures above without mackup... This is clearly misrepresentation... I would sue her ass

But once it is establish that you are naturally good looking.. then applying moderate mackup is cool...

All kidding aside, I like to think that when I tell a girl that she looks great without any makeup, she should take it as a very high compliment on her natural beauty. Personally I am very much more attracted to girls who look good with little or no makeup, but when I say it to someone I definitely mean it as a compliment.... and NOT to belittle their makeup-application skills.

chodadog 01-29-2003 10:51 PM

I definetley prefer the natural look. Many of the girls i know look better without any makeup on anyways. But hey, they look great either way, so i don't really mind. But yeah, i do prefer no makeup, but it's not much of an issue.
