Is there a way to fix dead pixels?

I have a Sony VIao out of warranty and the pixels died and the death spreading like a disease.

Anyone deal with dead pixels before?

Some people have told me that tapping on the screen on the dead pixel...repeatedly... can help.

I have never seen this work.

V_RocKs 08-13-2011 02:27 AM

ebay for teh win!

Replacing a screen is brain dead easy.

1) Go to Ebay and find someone selling the ENTIRE screen with the plastic shell included.
2) Buy it and have it shipped to you.
3) Receive it and lay it somewhere safe.
4) Go to youtube.com and search replacing your laptop models screen.
5) Watch the video paying attention to the screws you need to remove and the things that cover them.
6) Replace the screen.

Fuck dead pixels in the ass.

Buying the entire assembly means removing 6 to 8 screws. Buying just the actual LCD screen means removing about 18 to 30 screws and lining shit up, using double sided tape, fucking with brackets... a bunch of bullshit.

camperjohn64 08-13-2011 02:34 AM

Yes you can rub the pixel until it becomes unstuck. I had a few dead pixels and this has worked.

I forget why it works, something to do with the LCD liquid becoming stuck. It's only on certain types of monitors.

tap on the effected area with a ball peen hammer

ottopottomouse 08-13-2011 04:22 AM

Spread mustard on the affected area and leave it for 23½ seconds before wiping it off.

I tried this and now have more dead pixels. Flippen Sony!

Tapping would help, otherwise it's permanently there.

rock-reed 08-15-2011 11:39 PM

Good luck to all my GFY friends and dead pixels.

baddog 08-15-2011 11:48 PM

If short of cash, duct tape will keep it in check.

Chosen 08-16-2011 05:25 AM

No, they are dead :pimp

bigluv 08-16-2011 10:21 AM

The correct way is to shake the screen until the pixel comes loose.

AdultKing 08-16-2011 10:24 AM

Do dead pixels go to silicon heaven ?

JamesGw 08-16-2011 10:34 AM

How long has it been dead? Give it CPR.
