We have a few pods of Killer whales that frequent the area up the coast.Beautiful creatures...chomping on those fucking seals.Still amazing seeing them upclose.You really dont know the size of these guys till your up close.Massive!

Im no tree hugger enviromentalist but it Fucking sucks the Japs can still go around and slaughter these mammals.Probably a few more countries are allowed to kill them too.Its bad enough they eat everything that moves but to blast harpoons on a mammal on the verge of extinction is fucking wrong.

wow. the whale migration season for this area is ending soon... but I'll see them from time to time while I'm driving on PCH to see my kids. Pretty cool stuff to see whales in person.

Whales are curious critters just like us.... sometimes they come right up to the boat to check US out..... was talkin' with the captain last night, and he says he only sees this happen maybe 3 or 4 times all year. Said this is what's called a "mugging".... they come up and check us out to see what's goin' on. Personally, I think they're hearing the music from the boat and they're groovin' on it. :)

yeah it's always amazing to see creatures in their actual habitats and not behind a glass, cage or in a pool playing with beach balls and a giant tooth brush :)
In California we used to go out watching for the grey's..we'd see dolphins, and sea lions etc. The most amazing thing I ever saw was off the coast of Mailbu. We saw in the distance a pod of about 3-4 whales approaching and then behind that all we saw was bubbling water...it looked like the ocean was bubbling. We didn't know what the hell was going on as they passed in the distance we soon realized it was about 30-40 dolphins following these whales. |

I saw a doco the other day where they showed an Orca whale momentarily beaching itself to grab seals. It rides in on the wave, all the way onto the sand, then wriggles around to let the wave carry it back out. At the same time it's busy chomping on the seal. Awesome in slow-mo, those things are MASSIVE...
