Not if you give a penny with it. "OldTimer" knives used to come with a penny inside.:)

DarkJedi 01-29-2003 09:14 AM

yes, a good knife is a great gift. just ask your friend to give you a penny/nickle in return (so he kinda buys it from you - that way its okay).

i'd love to get some good knife as a gift

LiveDose 01-29-2003 09:16 AM

How about something automatic? This is a cool site. Hope mine gets through customs.

I think a nice knife is a badass gift...Definetely not a typical present...I'd be very happy to get one as a present.

machineg 01-29-2003 10:16 AM

my bro collects nice collector daggers and what not ... VERY FUCKING NICE !

they look great on his wall and still give the feeling that he just might kill you if you fuck around .

No wonder my luck is so shitty... I have given knives as gifts before :(

Shit I'll have to try and remember everyone that got one and go get a damn penny :thumbsup

Ironhorse 01-29-2003 10:33 AM

If your friend is a cook or likes cooking or has some other need for a knife I think it's ok, but as a general gift I'd say it's pretty much no,no.

^R3K^ 01-29-2003 10:38 AM

Nothings wrong with giving a knife.. I give alot of knifes and not one has ended up in my back ;-))

Go for a custom knife, find a knife guild in your area and find out each ones styles.. Something that was made from a tradesman in your area will make an awesome gift.. :)

Check out this Quality made Damascus, made by a local craftmen..

It's very versatile. He could even butter his toast with it!

exspamr 01-29-2003 11:36 AM

PlayaPlaya 01-29-2003 11:59 AM

Smith & Wesson makes some great automatics. What ever knife you choose to get, make sure it has a titanium blade. Though I couldn't find the particular knife i was looking for, I came across some nice sites. Check this site out http://216.71.158.68/webcat/nonframes.shtml

great blades, great grips

Undutchable 01-29-2003 01:51 PM

butterfly knives are the bomb, nice to play with :) The movie is okay but it looks kinda stupid when you make 20 moves without actually stabbing someone/something :winkwink:
