EMAIL I JUST GOT: Is your Porn Site Blind Friendly?

The best cancel excuse this month:

Quote:

I would like to cancel my membership to PawnYourSexTape. I was never able to use the membership because I couldn't log in to the site. I am blind and use a screen reader and couldn't read the code I needed to enter. So, please cancel my membership immediately. jPlease let me know that this has been done.
Thank you,
Chris F
Now it's true I have a captcha with no audio option like some mainstream sites use... just never thought blind people would join porn sites, but now that I think about it I guess they can listen to the videos??

New niche? Porn for the blind full of audio files? I'm all for it.

Sound and imagination works for the blind

gleem 08-07-2011 10:14 AM

According to WHO, there are 598,000 people in the United States met the legal definition of blindness.

Lets figure 50% are men, that's 300k, of those 50% are of legal age, that's 150k, and of the 150k, 75,000 use the internet with the programs that let them surf via audio software.

Now lets say you build a blind friendly porn paysite, all audio based navigation, stories and audio files... and you get 10% of them to join (7500) at $9.95 a month. That's $74,625 per month.

Anyone want to go in with me on development? Figure 10k to buy up licenses to all the text stories and have some girl read them, then have enough left over to create audio files from a bunch of DVDs.. bingo!

baddog 08-07-2011 10:28 AM

I have a sister-in-law that is blind and always makes comments about my posts and photos so I know there must be some kind of software that makes surfing easier than we might imagine.

there is lot of software for blind people, from pic recognition, text reading, voice commands etc.. I read about small team in my country that made translator for blind people, they visit site on english for example with news, and software auto translates to them to their mother language, they got some prize too.

A former girlfriend is blind from birth, she has never seen anything. She enjoys hearing stories and even listening to any "normal" porn video. Heck, I even played a clip from Hogtied.com for her and she got all crazy and wanted to try and experience what she had just heard.

Being blind, she's used to walk into stuff and she seldom reacts or gets surprised by it. But being tied up, removing her way to feel her way through, really tickles her mind and turns her on in remarkable ways, ways I've hardly seen with any other girl.

Gleem, I'd love to talk to you about it and I can volunteer my knowledge and input, because I firmly believe it to be a good deed! Will try to hit you up later tonight.

HarleySpencer 08-07-2011 03:23 PM

That's really interesting, I never thought of that before either. Maybe more websites should do that!

pornmasta 08-07-2011 03:32 PM

add an audio captcha, if it makes him happy.

Ice-nine 08-07-2011 05:01 PM

Captchas can be very difficult for sight impaired people to use. I constantly wish more webmasters would understand that.

Use alt tags for your images, I think that's what the text to speech stuff will read.

kane 08-08-2011 01:40 AM

A while back on Howard Stern they had a blind guy on who talked about the type of porn he liked to watch. Since he couldn't see it he said the sound was the most important thing. There was one girl he liked in particular, but I can't remember her name. He liked her because when she gave head she sounded like a duck quacking.

porn audio new niche

CurrentlySober 08-08-2011 02:55 AM

I used to make really good money selling audio porn (SPECIFICALLY FOR THE BLIND) on CD format back in 2001 / 2002

There was certainly a market for it.

I'll dig out a post I made elsewhere about the subtle nuances, the 'does and donts' of the niche, and post it, id anyones interested in reading it?

Thats awesome, how a duck quacking is hot is beyond me but I don't judge.

I kinda wish they had "El Howard Sterno" in Spanish tv

Ok. Here it is. It was originally posted as a reply to a model, who enquired on another forum, regarding the subject of 'personalised porn audio, for the blind' and its basically my advice to her...

Make of it what you will :)

Quote:

No, I dont have any links unfortunately, because the "Blind Peoples' forums I used back in 2001 2002 simply are no longer online.

You would have to do some research for yourself to find the modern day equivalent...

The thing to remember though, is that if you are doing 'porn' for the blind' there are certain things that you shouldn't mention too much, and certain things that you should make more of a point in talking about.

Example: Standard audio porn *might* sound like this...

I'm laying back on the bed in my short black skirt, and I have my sheer stockings on. I'm reaching down now, and running my hand up my leg, under my skirt, and I have now reached the top of my legs. I'm rubbing my white silk panties which are already getting wet...

Adopted for the blind, it would be more like this.

I'm laying on my back on my soft bed in my short skirt, and I'm wearing nylon stockings. I'm touching my knee, and slowly running my hand up my leg, feeling the nylon of the stocking, as it changes into my smooth silky inner thigh... I feel my heartbeat quicken, and a bead of sweat form on my brow, as I reach across to the warmth of my silken panties... Which are both warm and wet and a delight to feel with my finger tips...

Now without opening myself up to a debate about wether or not you should mention colours to Blind people, I chose not too, in the audio stuff I produced. Thats why I have omitted the 'black' skirt, the 'white' panties and the 'sheer' stockings in the second version. The colours are not important, nor are the 'look' (I hope that doesn't sound like a bad pun)

They are replaced by the 'knee' the 'nylon' the smooth inner thighs' and the 'silken' panties. Because they are all tactile descriptions. What things FEEL LIKE to touch... I also added the heartbeat, and the bead of sweat, because without vision, those are 'other body' senses that are often more pronounced and noticeable to the blind...

Another way to do it, is to imagine that you are in a totally dark room, and your BF is there, but he cant see you... and you want to make him cum. Because he cant see you, theres no point in using visual things like colours, so you need to be more creative in telling him what things FEEL LIKE...

Anyway, theres no certain 'fixed' method to it really, other than to think of these things, as you speak. After a while it should become second nature. Once you can do it 'right' - and it does take some practice - you should have no trouble getting repeat business from the blind community. Provided your delivering a personalised product, and it 'works' for them...

Hope thats of help.

FWIW, I'm *nearly* sober as I type this...

Thanks CS. Since I have a buddy that know a lot about the software that reads out loud to blind people and the way they use computers, I might make a website and target it to them. Should be interesting.

I have a hard time with captchas sometimes. Shit keeps telling me I'm putting in the wrong code when I'm not!

raymor 08-08-2011 08:32 AM

We hear from vision impaired people fairly regularly when webmasters remove the audible option in Strongbox, or if they are using a very old version without it . A lot of surfers with poor or no vision are used to having the audible captcha option when they see Strongbox.

Keep in mind that vision impairment is a continuous spectrum. Plenty of people need their system font set to 24 or higher and put their eyes a few inches from the screen. They often appreciate a site that puts things in the customary places. Ie. on a plain splash page the big ENTER link goes near the bottom of the page in the center.
I see quite well, worth my glasses, but on many sites sites we work on we have trouble finding the the link to the members' area. People with poor vision won't appreciate that.

Speaking to some legally blind people I'm reminded of the days of Compuserve and Prodigy, when we had postage stamp sized video. You couldn't really see anything, but we were used to that. Christy Canyon at 100x100 pixels was awesome because that's all we had. Hell, standard television is ,352x240, so it's all in what you're used to. When the whole world is super blurry, an equally blurry Sasha Grey is pretty damn sexy.

MaDalton 08-08-2011 08:51 AM

where's "AtlantisCash"... he's almost blind - and a webmaster
