Judge allows American to sue Rumsfeld over torture

The Justice Department also argued that a judge cannot review wartime decisions that are the constitutional responsibility of Congress and the president. And the department said the case could disclose sensitive information and distract from the war effort and that the threat of liability would impede future military decisions.

U.S. District Judge Wayne R. Andersen in Illinois last year said two other Americans who worked in Iraq as contractors and were held at Camp Cropper, Donald Vance and Nathan Ertel, can pursue claims that they were tortured using Rumsfeld-approved methods after they alleged illegal activities by their company.

Soooooo... The liability of deciding to torture your contractors will impede future US military decisions. And if you report the illegal activities of the contractor you work for, the US military will hold you in a cell and torture the fuck out of you.

How do you feel about this, theking?

In the name of fiscal conservatism, we need to slash the military budget down to NOTHING. Make it so they can't even afford the bullets to put in their fucking guns.

Fuck the military. Let's give them single prop Cessnas and replace their mega-artillery with pepper mace squirt guns.

This is the telling phrase.

can pursue claims that they were tortured using Rumsfeld-approved methods after they alleged illegal activities by their company.

And they're only going to sue. Why not criminal charges?

Also prosecute those who carried out the torture, wasn't so long ago we were executing Germans for carrying out orders.
