Non-Americans watching the Address.

So why exactly are you guys watching the Address tonight? Why is this being broadcasted in your countries?

And if you're not watching, why are you commenting?

It's the same recycled shit over and over again... if you hate Bush, fine, but add some substance to your posts...

Rose 01-28-2003 09:29 PM

Exactly, I am canadian and I didnt watch him, I worry more about the Moron in Ottawa than moron in Washington

WiredGuy 01-28-2003 09:32 PM

Because the actions of the American government influence more than just your own country.

WG

Ted 01-28-2003 09:34 PM

They interupted the normal broadcast to show it in australia.
I didn't actually watch it because george aint that great a speaker and I can get the 2 minute summary in the evening news.

Most of the time it's bullshit political speak which means jack shit

CDSmith 01-28-2003 09:37 PM

Since reality tv is the biggest thing going in the US right now, I watched for the entertainment value.

LOL.... He is definitively French ( well, I am not that sure hearing him speak...) , definitively Cretin , but not a dicktator.... just another moron...

I am american, missed it. sad that I did. why? i despise the man and
his administration. in my opinion he has done nothing good in his term, and his term is based a maybe election. his actions affect many
many people, not just americans. the countries and people who dislike
how america deals with the rest of the world have every right to watch. they're the ones who may be killed by this man's policies.
the us military needs to watch for the same reason. and their families.

where is osama mr president?

He acts like a dictator, wasting our money on his french friends with fat government useless contracts , taxing us death (anyone who makes $40 000 US is considered rich by tax man in Canada and highest tax bracket kicks in),. Maybe if Canada had some real power other nations would take us seriously. Sorry to say but we are nobody these days. I wonder how come we used to have one of the most powerful military in the world and today we dont even have a military.

I probably am too old to remember a "powerfull military" in Canada. Alzeimer can do this or maybe you smoked too much of this legal Canadian Pot... :)

Hey, you know, we do like you guys outside of Quebec. We are latins: we talk alot, discuss alot, will argue in bars... then go back to work with our friends french or english.

Rose, quel jolie nom....:thumbsup

I think most of the free world should vote for the US president, would be much harder for stupid fuckers to buy there way into office.

Because our fucking country has already started sending troops to the middle-east to help the US fight yet another one of their wars fought primarily for their economic and political interests.

We can all see that this war isn't about bringing democracy and peace to the world but a selfish, greedy grab for oil by a bully superpower that has been getting systematically more violent and repressive.

Are you that deluded that you think the actions of the US government don't affect other countries?

If so, I'd suggest that you pull your head out of your arse.

That will happen soon... let Bush invade a few more countries and it will be the "Axis of God"...

One million? I highly doubt it. I've studied a fare bit of Canadian military history, and to my knowledge Canada has had no army of such a significant size. Great fighters, yes. Many highly decorated vets and regiments, many legendary tales of bravery.... but you'll have to show some proof about the one million men after wwII. I've never heard or read that ever.

In total approximately 1.1 million Canadians served in all branches of the armed forces from a population of only 11 million. From a pitiful peacetime Permanent Force of approximately 4,200 (all ranks) grew an army that reached a peak size of 500,000.

This sounds about right. I can see where over a million Canadians may have served over the duration of the war, but I would have been very surprised if our army was larger than half a million at any one time.
