Don't forget, though, that CAN-SPAM is the most liberal standard by far.
Your ISP, payment processors, and Guido who happens to live down the block aren't going to appreciate spam even if it barely avoids federal prosecution under that one law. For another example, if you send UCE to me in Texas and the subject line is misleading, it's a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail. One thousand emails at six months each is up to 500 years in jail. My rule is simple and has served us well for fifteen years. Never send an email that the recipient won't be happy to receive. Our customers keep coming back for years and years. |
