Paypal Suck

For digital goods paypal sucks its so easy for buyers to refund
You sell something or you give access for anything and after a month
they request a refund and you pay also the fees
No possible to proof a fucking s*&^#

robber 07-29-2011 09:56 AM

What is thier reason for requesting a refund back? as I don't know many places who would just refund like that.

drmadcat 07-29-2011 10:02 AM

best and safest way to sell a domain via paypal
1.receive paypal payment
2.send recorded letter to payee
3.check payee has received and signed for letter
then you should be covered via paypal
but there may be a way around that

You dont refund like that but you cant do nothing

Reason for refund:

The buyer claims that this purchase was made without authorization to use
the credit card

My answer also for drmadcat

michael.kickass 07-29-2011 01:03 PM

PayPal always sucked.

robber 07-29-2011 08:35 PM

well, get them to use a paypal account itself as if the charge on the card is disputed then it should be paypal's issue not yours as they're charging the card

Chosen 07-29-2011 10:58 PM

Paypal sucks big time, it's not a secret at all...

Learn how to write terms of services, and implement verification processes to verify them and their creditcard to thus prevent such chargebacks. Also check what Paypal's policy is on digital goods or services and how they are excluded from the regular seller protection.

HerPimp 08-11-2011 09:34 PM

take a look at plimus

PSDan 08-12-2011 06:27 PM

We've been using PayPal for nearly 11 years. No complaints, but we may be lucky. Only a handful of refunds or reversals. But, as it was stated earlier, it is really the credit card issuer that causing the issues - especially in these times with regard to liquidity problems faced by many financial institutions (BofA has lost 50% of its stock value this year to date), and issues in the derivatives markets. Lending money (which is what a credit card purchase is) is tightening, and the rules are evolving at the expense of small business.

I am on the paypal sucks train also!

braylove 08-28-2011 04:36 AM

Paypal are crooks!

They will " freeze " your account for some made up reason and then make you wait 90 days to receive your funds through check.

And once your account is frozen, If they find out you make a new one they will freeze that one as well and say they are suspicious of fraud.

BULLSHIzzz!

Some things that you could do to protect yourself better when you sell, at least this is how i do:

1) Request the buyer paypal email:
2) Check if his account is verified (may be US or non-US verified) LINK
3) Send a payment request from your account including information about what are you selling and any other transaction details you have.

* In the verification link you have to replace 'email' for the email you want to check.

:thumbsup

I just created one :D

I agree with the others that PayPal plays its own game but Plimus is not an alternative as these guys may block your account once and forever for whatever reason and then invent some negative balance which you'll have to pay. At least you can a kinda negotiate and communicate with PayPal in some issues and even with regard to refunds.

Paypal's buyer protection policy aways leads to some fraud transaction. I recommend to use our payment system with 3D visa/MC certification and professional risk control team...

You can always use theirs competitors. I'm also not satisfied in 100% from Paypal but it's huge player on market and a lot of users use it.

brassmonkey 10-04-2011 10:50 PM

happened to me a few times. one of them was over a year old chargeback

possiblygreen 10-06-2011 12:18 PM

I could be the odd one out here but I quite like Alertpay. Paypal sucks in too many ways.
Even their dev conferences suck.

socialcracker 10-20-2011 03:37 AM

yeah paypal sucks.. I use it because most people use it and find it convenient.. Once paypal freezed my account for having around 10k$ in paypal.. It almost took them 6 months to release that money..

Paypal sucks bad !

mixing 10-28-2011 01:10 AM

Well for most people outside the US I would agree that it sucks..I live in the USA and use paypal very frequently so I actually like them :)

Jack Sparrow 10-28-2011 02:22 AM

Paypal sux badly.
They ban accounts without any good reason. Hold your funds for months. You can call them over and over and they will promise to solve issues but never do.

My last account got banned, bo reason given. They tell ne to look in my account because there would be something there to solve. Nothing. No complaints, no refunds. Nothing.

Im going plimus now with my mainstream, unless someone can convince me they suck and there is a better alternative.
