Makes a ton of sense if you think about it. Gives them access to all of the books they need. They can convert some locations into apple stores, and kill of the rest. Win win.

I agree at first you go WTF!!

But as you point out it does make a lot of sense not to mention the BN subscriber/membership Database would be another reason.

probably not the best purchase... who goes to book stores anymore? people who can't afford apple products mostly

It makes business sense on some level, but it makes zero brand sense, and Apple is a brand first and foremost.

They should. Borders are all closing down. No other competition for Amazon.
