day 2 giving up caffine

God the withdrawals are a bitch. Ive had one constant headache for two days and my joints ache like I got the flu. I read this could last for 9 fucking days.

NaughtyRob 07-26-2011 06:06 PM

Wow. I know what you mean. I really would love to stop drinking caffein but don't want to deal with the headaches.

SleazyDream 07-26-2011 06:07 PM

YOU"RE SUPPOSED TO BE SPEAKING IN ALL CAPS ON DAY 2 WITHOUT CAFFEINE!!!!!!!

either that or be sleeping

kane 07-26-2011 06:10 PM

I used to drink a lot of coffee and caffeinated beverages. Gave it all up about 10 years ago and it was one of the best things I did.

It is a pain in the ass though. I used to work with a guy who drank a 2 liter of Pepsi every day at work during an 8 hour shift. He tried to give it up, but only made it to lunch of the first day and he was shaking like a junkie.

Why are you quitting caffeine? Did your doctor tell you too?

It has good things it does: energy (so you get more exercise and get healthier) and it helps to relieve headaches as well.

I used to drink something called "Ultimate Orange" before I hit the gym...it was SUPER STACKED with ephedrine for energy. It kicked ass. Of course the govt. made it illegal.
So lately I've been sucking down an extra strength 5 Hour Energy shot right before I hit the gym and that thing is like drinking liquid cocaine! I have tons of energy and I'm lifting MUCH heavier weights than before too.

I imagine I would be pretty damn tired 24/7 without a lot of caffeine. :)

My goal is boundless energy not manufactured energy that only lasts for little while. So this week caffeine goes and next week I start my juice fast. I should be fun next week lol

tony286 07-26-2011 06:21 PM

actually this morning I woke up for first time ever at 5:30 am without an alarm clock. I forced myself to stay in bed I wished I hadnt because it made me feel worse.

I don't know if you'll have "boundless energy" because you are at an age where your natural testosterone levels are probably lower than an 18 year old girls. It just happens to all of us.

With low test levels and no caffeine...you're not gonna feel very good. Are you on a Thryroid medication? Because if you are, then at least that will keep your metabolism raised and give you something.

96ukssob 07-26-2011 06:51 PM

dont give in! its hard to get off caffeine. I was drinking 2-3 16oz Rock Stars (triple strength), a few cups of coffee and diet coke all day. took me a while to get back to normal, but I fucked it up all over again :Oh crap

lol Im feel much better than I did at 466 but im still tried alot and Im in a stall at 195 lbs lost. I watched a documentary about juicing the weight loss part didnt excite me. It was some old guy who did it for 10 days and he said I would work my 14 hr shift go home and go to bed. Now I worked my 14 hrs, then came home did another 1.5 hrs of work in the house then watched some tv and then went to bed to catch about 5 hrs of sleep. That turned me on big time.

tony286 07-26-2011 07:01 PM

To answer Robbie Im on no medications. Maybe its Im just old but its worth a shot and the old guy had to have at least 15 yrs on me. lol

mynameisjim 07-26-2011 07:23 PM

You can try green tea, it has caffeine that will probably alleviate the withdrawal, but it's not the jittery type of caffeine so you won't really feel buzzed or energized. Green tea is good for weight loss too.

One thing I've found for energy, and this may sound strange, but don't mix foods. Meaning when you eat, only eat one type of food per meal. This is sort of based on the Gracie diet and it makes sense when you think about it. Digestion is VERY hard for your body and takes a lot of energy, you just don't realize it because it happens automatically. But that's why when you eat a big meal you get tired, it's because your body knows it has a shit load of work ahead of it.

So if you make digestion as easy as possible, you save all that energy for other stuff. Trust me, stop mixing foods and you'll get an energy boost.

So your meals consist of one food item only? Could you explain a little more.

oh, i was thinking the juice fast was strictly juice... so you are going to fast/juice only then perhaps replace something with a juice drink in your overall diet going forward? jack lalanne and all that, dude knew his stuff and he swore by those eh.

If you look up the Gracie diet, it puts foods into categories you can mix and not mix at the same meal.

Personally, I just stick with one type of food per meal, for example, just vegetables, or just fruit, or just yogurt, or just rice. If you eat throughout the day, it's very easy. If you eat a few big meals, it might not be possible and I would suggest following the Gracie diet where there is food mixing allowed, but just certain types.

My first thought when you said "juicing" was that you were gonna head to the drug dealer and get some steroids and start pumping it up! :1orglaugh :pimp

anexsia 07-26-2011 09:56 PM

I've gone through 4 Mt. Dew and 2 AMP energy drinks...it's an adult blogathon night for me! Work work work work

Don't give up ... Caffeine is a bullshit drug and will only fuck you up ... Drink a glass of
red wine or beer per day .. much healthier.

I'm about 6 weeks CAFFEINE FREE! LOVE IT!

much more relaxed and clear minded.

:thumbsup

MaDalton 07-27-2011 06:27 AM

i am enjoying my morning coffee here :)

PR_Glen 07-27-2011 06:37 AM

i was ready to come in here and discuss how caffeine is relatively harmless and that there is no need to remove it from your diet completely, but that was before i realized how many caffeine junkies we seem to have on this board! haha

Seriously.. if you get bad headaches if you stop drinking it? or anything else please stop!! :)

Energy drinks lead to heart failure, i have no clear evidence of this, my statement is merely based on observations, but in 5-10 years from now they will prove what I said and take them off the market completely.

Beware of juice! No it's not really harmful, it just has a lot of sugar, even with all real fruit which can contribute to type 2 diabetes and weight gain if you drink in excess.

true, people dont realize that regular beer, 1.5% fat milk and natural orange juice all have about the same amount of calories

if you want to lose weight don't drink fruit juices - just water. also diet coke doesnt help cause the artifical sweetener makes you hungry

i am just wondering about about caffeine withdrawal - i drink usually 3-4 mugs a day and without coffee i feel it takes me longer to get started in the morning. but if i get no coffee for a couple of days the world doesn't stop either

raymor 07-27-2011 06:49 AM

the hardest part is over. A long as you son't give up now you'll never have to do this again.

$300 a month, are you serious? I could buy a year supply of beans and be burr milling/french pressing like a mofo with $300 and my coffee tastes better! :1orglaugh

Good luck with it, I have been cutting down drastically on my coffee for about two months now, the headaches have passed but I do not get going as fast in the morning.

Chosen 07-27-2011 06:59 AM

I don't drink coffee :pimp

MrMaxwell 07-28-2011 04:18 AM

I use to drink several two liters of Coca Cola every day... that or a couple or three pots of coffee.. Several years ago I had just had enough, it made me a mess. These days I will have one or two soda pops a day, and some times I will go to a little coffee shop with my woman.

You'll feel a lot better minus the caffeine

I think you should have halved your intake for a week or so before completely going off of it. But they say 90% of the world is addicted to it.. so you'll be a ten percenter, there.

As an aside, if anyone quits nicotine.. remember that without your nicotine, you only need half the caffeine you use to for the same effect.

pornguy 07-28-2011 05:50 AM

Best way to do it is to cut back first. Half then half again etc..

Barry-xlovecam 07-28-2011 06:06 AM

I cut my coffee intake down to 1/2 most days.
Just make decaf coffee and tea in the afternoon and evening ...
Worked for me ...

DWB 07-28-2011 06:13 AM

I went 36 years without drinking coffee. During a shoot in Bangkok when I was dragging ass, I had my first Mocha whatever it is from a Starbucks knock off, and have been drinking it every since.

Now I enjoy a cup of instant coffee when I wake up while I check email and get my focus together. I quite drinking it for a month when I upped my water intake dramatically, and had no withdraws at all, however I have come to realize that I like the taste of coffee so there is no real reason to not drink 1 cup or the occasional 2.

Yeah, I was drinking two pots a day and a couple of venti starbucks pike places a day. But Im nothing in my caffine consumption compared to Robbie Williams who was consuming 35 super-strength double espresso coffees, 60 cigarettes and around 20 cans of Red Bull on a daily basis. He must of had a fulltime barista working for him. lol

Dr. Glen PhD. Broscience

whats bad in energy drinks besides the massive amount of sugar...please do tell.

JamesGw 07-28-2011 08:16 AM

I don't really like caffeine. Try hitting up some drinks with only taurine in them if you need energy. Vitamin water's Power C is 10x better than any sort of soda or coffee for waking me up and is much better for you as well.

Tony, you must have watched Fat Sick, and Nearly dead no? I tried the juice fast (Keep in mind, I'm not over weight, and I exercise regularly). I could not finish the 10 days only because I could not get my running and weightlifting in. By day 3 my 5mile routine started making me feel dizzy.

So FYI do not work out while on this diet.
