I think he loves the attention and also loves a battle, though there was one time it clearly did get too much for him i.e. the thread calling him The Village Idiot

I don't think Paul is as naive and senile as people think he is. He likes to 'bait' people.

His threads are constructed with some thought going into them. People fall for it. He loves it.
