Spotify is currently available in the U.S. by invitation only, but @aplusk asked us to set aside some of the very first invites for friends.

Enter your email address in the box to get an invite.

You guys did not have it? It's great indeed.

Babaganoosh 07-20-2011 06:25 AM

I can't figure out what all the hype is about. It's very similar to grooveshark but with only a fraction of the music.

Not to mention you have to download an application? They're a little behind. :1orglaugh

The layout reminds me of Songbird.

Nothing beats Grooveshark.

I always have people coming up to me to brag about how they discovered this thing called Pandora. When I try to tell them about Grooveshark, they scratch their heads and go "but you can make stations".

You can make stations on Grooveshark, and make custom playlists, and listen to albums, specific singles, obscure or unknown music, comedy, soundtrack...whatever exists.

Spotify and Pandora are like the America Online of internet radio.

Same here, I can't see how anything could be better than Grooveshark, anything I want to do, it does.

Pandora is for my grandmom.

Babaganoosh 07-20-2011 05:12 PM

To be fair, I do use Pandora especially late at night when I don't want to fuck with playlists. I have some stations set up that I generally like everything that's on.

But between Grooveshark and Pandora I have absolutely no use for spotify.

I got a Spotify invite yesterday and liked what I saw then some people on here turned me on to grooveshark. Been listening to it today and so far I like it too, maybe even better.

bronco67 07-20-2011 06:39 PM

I finally got my invite info, and signed up. I guess it would be good if I had just woken up from a coma and didn't know about Grooveshark.

candyflip 07-20-2011 11:10 PM

I like it a lot more than Grooveshark. I have found everything I've searched for. I will give it a month or so before deciding on one over the other.

it's like fucking bearshare!

Nicky 07-21-2011 02:33 AM

I do love my spotify premium though.

The Grooveshark interface is slow as fuck!

Cherry7 07-21-2011 03:40 AM

Spotify was great in the UK but now they have put lots of restrictions and fees in place in order to launch it in the US....

Is it free there or subscription?

Theo 07-21-2011 08:12 PM

Not for me! I canceled my 10 year old Napster account the day I started using Grooveshark. Better, faster, more music, free.

The one thing I have seen so far is that Grooveshark won't stream to non-jailbroken Apple phones.

nico-t 07-22-2011 03:41 AM

lol @ invites, stupid marketing ploy to make it feel 'exclusive'. And people all fall for it, from gmail to google+ to spotify.

While I'm sure a good portion of it is marketing I read an interview with the owner of Spotify and he said they got millions of requests from US users for invites. He claims that if they had let them all join at once it would have collapsed their system. If that is the truth I give him credit. Roll it out a little slowly and make sure those users are very happy instead of trying to add it all at once and crashing it so nobody is happy.
