OS X 10.7 Lion launching today

Apple is launching the new OS X Lion today in App Store. I have been waiting for a week for it. Anyone else as excited as me? YES, since I got my Macbook Pro I have become an Apple Whore :1orglaugh

DamianJ 07-20-2011 05:19 AM

Been running it about 4 weeks. It's pretty nice. Not really an amazing evolution. Made me replace my mouse with a magic trackpad though, because Lion REALLY uses gestures well.

AdultKing 07-20-2011 05:23 AM

Yep I agree the gestures are wicked on a MacBook Pro.

Zorgman 07-20-2011 05:23 AM

Waiting on my Imac for next week when Lion comes with the system. :)

AdultKing 07-20-2011 05:26 AM

Hey Zorgman did you end up getting that refurb 27" ? Looked like a great price.

Horny Joe 07-20-2011 05:43 AM

And THERE I have bought Lion and started downloading :)

Nope, some lucky person got it about an hour before me. I'm sure they will put up some more 27" imac's soon. Hopefully 2011 models. :)

Going to the Penrith Grand opening on Saturday. :thumbsup

Ah well they put those refurbs up quite often. Just a tip, I have gotten the best prices for Macs, sometimes 10 - 15% off RRP at JB HiFi.

Zorgman 07-20-2011 06:16 AM

Yep, going to start with 4GB and buy from Macfitit website. It's $209 for 16GB ram.
On the apple website it's $720 or something silly.

PornStarToys 07-20-2011 05:49 PM

I have a question, when you click full screen for a program, how do you get it back to normal without quitting it?

VPN client does not work. Mail is buggy.

mouse or pointer to the top of the page where the menu normally would be, look in the View menu for full screen mode. With Chrome for example, it was SHIFT + CMD + F

Just did my upgrade through the app store... bit of a learning curve getting used to the new touchpad directional controls, but I'm diggin it so far.

jgabra62 07-21-2011 02:00 AM

I love it...I think it's fantastic. Slightly less of a learning curve if you are accustomed to using any of the Apple iOS iDevices.

Thanks Mitch

It's pretty solid, I like the changes so far. I was expecting more integration of the Versions, but I guess different applications will start using it very soon.

Go to System Pref. and uncheck "Scroll direction: natural" and you get it like it used to be.

Kinda getting used to it... and get the logic... now switching back to other devices using reverse logic might become fun... overall good upgrade. Especially at the price point.

2MuchMark 07-21-2011 04:14 AM

I downloaded and installed Lion yesterday. So far, so good. Speedwise it seems to be the same, but the new mail is pretty nice, and I can finally put the trackpad to more use now as the new gesture support is great. "Mission Control" though I find to be pretty useless but maybe I just haven't learned to take advantage of it yet.

campimp 07-21-2011 07:53 AM

downloading now :)

gotta love some apple

digitaldivas 07-21-2011 08:18 AM

what do you guys think about the "only downloadable online" thingamajig. No more OS Boot Disks. I don't know, I always like to have hard copies around...

Zorgman 07-21-2011 08:55 AM

I'm sure you can make a copy of it to DVD once downloaded. Like a boot disk.

RebelR 07-21-2011 09:02 AM

only issue I've encountered so far, is that my Firefox Sync stopped working. But other than that, its great. I'm even getting used to the scrolling being inverted. I get the logic behind it.
