thinking about hiring gallery ppl

Hey.. if anyone could offer any input about the idea of hiring in house gallery makers/submitters, it would be cool.. I was thinking about hiring a few people to make AVS/TGP (and submit) from office here.. But since I don't have any experience doing such, I didn't know the degree to which doing so might be profitable.

I've been weighing the pro's and con's for a while and thought I might see if any of you guys might have experience with this... it's all for my own sites so I get 100% of the profit..

I would want people to do it from office instead of independently because people are a lot more productive in a controlled environment. And plus people doing it from home would figure out it would be more profitable for them to just do it themselves, probably :)

People who do this -- do you pay them per gallery, or by the hour, or what? And, how profitable is it? (I know that's a very broad question, and the answer depends on a lot of specifics, but considering such, I was looking for a very general answer, and would certainly appreciate sincere replies)

Cheers...

plenty of people out here make great gallery designs, but ultimately it all depends on where you submit the galleries and what kind of traffic you get. But an awsome gallery design definetely is a +:2 cents:

If you know nothing about it, how will you train them? Who will build converting galleries for you?

my designer is the shit (he's on salary).. i guess he could just teach them.. i was talking about hiring like graphics design majors at uni or something

Galleries are about marketing, not fancy graphics.

Would you agree DrinkingHard?

Agreed - a nice design is good, but if you can't sell you're wasting your time.

Good designers are around - those who know how to sell and market are rare.

Many people confuse good looking galleries with galleries that sell

Absolutely man, look at Sleazydream. Do you think he has nice galleries? It is all about volume and a decent sponsor...

Newbies stop worrying so much about tweaking galleries, spend that time posting the galleries. An unposted gallery makes you $0.

You mean like myself? I'm at the University as a GD major, but the problem is that I've realized how much I can make on my own :)

Just wondering what you had in mind though. Hit me up sometime at [email protected] .

Hiring the right people is the key to success. I know little about the Internet and nothing about computers. But I hired a man who did and look at me now. :)

But they are right about marketing, no one is looking for a pretty design while he's got his dick in his hand. He wants a fantasy that is going to get him off. :1orglaugh

i like to pay them salary plus bonuses, sometimes even a % of profit so they have motivation... you are right about having inhouse being better, but either way they will realize what they are doing can make them decent money on their own. Make them need you, help them with hosting their own shit if they say they will start their own stuff.... show them that they cannot get partner accounts on tgps because nobody knows them, don't teach them what makes a great gallery, just show give them the galleries and tell them to do the pics, and posting....

there are many tricks to getting your galleries listed, and connections is one of them....

I agree

I just think, that if you become a sponsor & pay percentage to your affiliates(as many other paysite owners does), it will be much easier & more profitable.

I agree, the drive behind galleries that I see that most people miss is marketing, not flashiness. A good call to action, minimal flashiness in design, and top content will win out every time.

I would also agree with the suggestion that if you were hiring in house that you pay a salary that is fair, but encourage good performace with bonuses. If you make more money, they make more money :).

I would also offer to barter their work for hosting, etc if they feel that they want to start doing thing on their own. And stress to them that the time at the office is YOUR time, and if they wanted to do anything at night, you'd be glad to give them a hand getting started. I think it's more like kids and booze - if you tell them NO NO NO, then eventually they are going to do it anyway, and without your support they will eventually just ditch you.

Just my :2 cents:

Pay them a base salary+ a commission dependent on how much sales they generate from their work.
