Murder of Hasidic Jewish boy shocks New York community
An eight-year-old Hasidic Jewish boy who got lost walking home from a day camp in one of the safest areas of New York was killed and dismembered by a stranger he asked for directions.
Lhahahaha Kletzky was thought to have taken a wrong turn on a seven block journey to meet his mother on Monday afternoon. An intense search ended with the discovery of his remains in a fridge and a suitcase. The gruesome killing shocked the city's tight-knit ultra-Orthodox Hasidic community even more because the suspect Levi Aron, 35, is himself an Orthodox Jew, although not Hasidic. Aron, a clerk at a hardware shop, was identified from a grainy surveillance video which showed him with the boy. At one point Lhahahaha was seen waiting for seven minutes on the street while his abductor went into a dentist's office to pay a bill. Police said Aron had confessed to the killing, admitting that he smothered the boy with a towel after getting "in a panic" when thousands of volunteers in Brooklyn began looking for him. Aron also claimed to police that he had taken the boy to a wedding in a New York suburb after abducting him. Brooklyn prosecutor Charles Hays said Aron would be charged with murder and police would investigate any previous contact with children. They would also investigate whether he had a history of mental illness. Aron's lawyer, Pierre Bazile, said: "From the Aron family, they'd like to extend their condolences to the family of the boy." Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York, called the killing "a stunning shock to our entire city". State Assemblyman Dov Hikind added: "This is a no-crime area. Everybody is absolutely horrified." There is a 165,000-strong Hasidic Jewish community in New York. Thousands of mourners in traditional dress ? black hats and coats for men and modest clothes for women ? gathered for the boy's funeral on Wednesday evening. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...community.html |

I'm from Brooklyn originally and I know vaguely know the area. It is a 'safe' area for most Hasidic's as they heavily populate the area as they do in many parts of Brooklyn but of course there are few non-jewish folks still there. What a terrible tragedy. This dirtbag shouldn't be allowed to rot in jail. He should be killed in the same manner he killed this little boy...
Just my two cents...:2 cents: |
Sad news yep.

Wow, unbelievable. Hope his family finds some peace.

I just read another article that said in the past he had worked at a butcher at a Kroger supermarket. It's hard to believe this would be his first crime of this nature.

The killer will be declared insane, the case will not go to trial, and the story will die out in the national media by next week :2 cents: |

What I don't understand is what the hell was he doing around this stranger in the first place? It's not like he was just walking by and he got snatched into a car, he was walking around with him in town first. I was told to stay away from strangers at a real young age, I remember being 4 and having this ingrained into my skull even by then. I'm not trying to point fingers at the kid or his parents really but shit... this sounds like it was preventable. |

Really sad story, the parents will be grief stricken for years. To lose a child is bad enough. Like this is beyond belief.
|
It's pretty messed up. I guess the kid got lost and was asking for directions or something. Some people are sick, but I agree that the fear mongering is silly.
