Banned URLs in Sigs
 

Banned URLs and people linking to them in their sigs are really fucking up browsing the threads. Can you delete their sigs instead ?

Ok found a solution that works.

If someone's posts are causing your system to freeze up, just click their Profile, and at bottom right is a link "Add this person to your Ignore list". Then when you open threads, it doesn't show up.

or unban the program? :)

Or turn off all sigs.

We're banned and my sig works just fine.

It's because the banned word is a domain and is banned to www.hahahahahaha instead of www.hahahahahaha.com. All they have to do is add the .com on the end and all will be well.

this board has lagged for me and been slow as fuck for over a year, even with the new upgrade.

Come to find out it was always these stupid fucks with 50k sigs and graphics loading from their shit servers.

I had no idea that I had the option to not load people's sigs. Just went to my profile and edited options and boom there it was. Nice clean looking posts now.

no sigs is a fine idea, but i predict this board would be 1/2 as productive,active, and profitable.

Turned all mine off too, gotta admit.. makes everything faster. The ******* javascript was really the only thing hanging me up so bad though. It was bearable before.

Meh, sigs are fine... what needs to be disabled are the higher HTML functions. The worst offenders are folks who link videos, music and WAV files in their sigs. If it were limited to just UBB IMG tags, you'd just get a red-x for slow hosts rather than a browser crash.

******* has been in use here since November and only just last week started causing the problems you're talking about. It was already explained (several times now) why those problems arose, and it was because of the server we were on getting hammered by some lame shit slowing the whole thing down, not at all related to *******. Then, ******* was banned Saturday because of slowness, when, uhm, what happened Saturday? Oh yeah, that's right, the whole fucking Internet took a nosedive because of that worm virus. Again, nothing at all to do with *******. If you'd bother to read the follow-ups to your crying about *******, you might actually learn something.

Every time I turn around you're dogging on the thing, but if you haven't noticed yet, your ClickMojo button is flying in ******* sigs all over the place, along with buttons from a bunch of other whiners here.

We're moving to a better, faster server arrangement this week. ******* will be faster than ever before. Your ClickMojo button will be shown in more sigs than ever before.

Jak, I never put my button in any rotation so if it's there.. someone else did it. Feel free to take it out if you want. The fact of the matter is that the ******* code is STILL the problem. As I mentioned, it was bearable before but now it's not. Try to view any thread using Opera, that contains someone using the code. It's stops at "Executing Javascript", and won't get past that. I realize it's because now it's trying to go to hahahahaha.com which doesn't exist so it made the matter worse than it was before. GFY admin's aren't fixing it and the users don't seem to be fixing it in their Sig's either.

So even if you have the fastest servers in the world, and your code is stable.. it STILL won't make one difference until either GFY deletes the users who won't fix their fucking Sigs OR does something about the sig's trying to execute javascript from a non-existent site.

Like I've said, all GFY has to do is tack a simple ".com" onto the end of the "hahahaha" and all will be solved. No more hang ups for Opera. And for the record, we sent out an e-mail the day ******* got banned here, to ALL users, asking them to take their sigs down from GFY. I'm sure someone here who got that e-mail would be happy to verify.

So you keep talking about ******* causing the problem when it's really just Opera not being able to handle web addresses missing a ".com" at the end without throwing a hissy fit. No wonder I stopped using it a long time ago.

Result of test:
Adding the .com on the end, does not fix the problem.

Tested with IE 6, and it hangs on the same post.. then after a few seconds it gives up and displays the rest.

Update:
Opera seems to be loading the thread fine now, as I suppose it's cached the fact that hahahahhaha.com won't load.

I'll try to edit it out of my previous post now.

OK well first, I'd suggest editing that code out of your post, because the fact that it's trying to connect to a CGI script from a non-existing site is slowing the hell out of the thread loading.

And thanks for doing the test. I was under the impression that the .com tacked on would help, apparently not. I'll send out another e-mail to let everyone know to nix the code from their sigs, hahahahaha or not.

Actually, since the problems are over for ******* at this point, and we're moving to the new server in a few days, the easiest thing to do would be to unban it, then everything would load just fine. But of course I didn't just say that. :1orglaugh
