Bachmann pledges to ban pornography

Quote:

Michele Bachmann became the first presidential candidate to sign a pledge created by THE FAMiLY LEADER, an influential social-conservative group in Iowa. By signing the pledge Bachmann ?vows? to ?uphold the institution of marriage as only between one man and one woman? by committing herself to 14 specifics steps. The ninth step calls for the banning of ?all forms? of pornography. The pledge also states that homosexuality is both a choice and a health risk. You can read all the details of the pledge here.

That's funny, I just pledged to ban her.

Bachmann is just a Republican trick to make Sarah Palin look smart.

Fuck Bachmann.

Remember when Barry pledged to close down Guantanamo...that didn't happen either.

True, but closing down guantanamo, has nothing to do with freedom of speech.
I guess the shock value is, she signed a thing promising to stomp on people rights.

Then again we are losing them like crazy, so I guess not so shocking..

Im going to bed...........

WebairGerard 07-09-2011 08:39 PM

She is just stirring the pot but is a loose cannon for sure. To tell you the truth I would enjoy watching the her and Palin duke it out during the republican debates. that would be entertaining. :thumbsup

Won't happen. Unlike Bachmann, Palin isn't serious about running for president. Besides, aside from perhaps launching personal attacks on each other, they'd have nothing to argue about.

They'll both gang up on the others instead.

Al and Tipper Gore wanted to outlaw heavy metal and gangsta rap at one point and singed pledges, that was also against freedom of speech and that didn't happen either.

People need to stop with the knee jerk reactions to these political pledges, they have been going on for 50 years and none of them are ever acted upon. Its all for show but yet you will always find some idiot assholes to make 10 threads about it on GFY...mainly because they don't know any better.

I remember it a little different. I believe they were trying to ban Explicit and Violent music to under 18. Think that did happen.

Porn is already banned to under 18.

Way to early to care, BUT not so sure about a knee jerk reaction. These days it is good to know everyone inside and out, so they don't come back and say "I told you I was for this"

Oh, I think I remember Gore LOVED heavy metal music and this was one of the issues for the divorce.

In the end, pick the lessor of the twoo evils.

Let's get some Bachmann fakes in here :)

I'm convinced that that boneheaded nonsense cost Gore the election in 2000.

A lot of folks, who would have otherwise voted for him, ended up staying home on election day in the mistaken belief that he wasn't much different than Bush.

It has EVERYTHING to do with freedom of speech.

It was about constitutional law and individual rights under the constitution, which includes freedom of speech. Of course, now i guess those things are less important to Obama since he's done nothing he promised to protect those people and their "rights" - but hey, why should you be worried if a liberal lawyer specializing in constitutional law turned president doesn't care??

:2 cents:

Damn !!!! You are ruining the nice spin of ' remembrance ' that Gouge had ...

At least, give him a chance to go edit a wikipedia page to reflect his story :2 cents:

That may be but the general perception at the time was more like Gouge described it and I'm convinced that that cost Gore the election.

That's the smart thing to do but unfortunately it doesn't always play out that way.

To give you another example, if Obama bows to Republican pressure and fucks with Social Security or Medicare, I promise you that enough Democrats will stay home on election day to all but assure the victory of whichever wingnut the Republicans eventually nominate :(

DaddyHalbucks 07-10-2011 03:32 PM

Not gonna happen.

mynameisjim 07-10-2011 03:40 PM

This means there MUST be a Bachmann sex tape out there somewhere.

Anytime a Republican starts acting all righteous about banning something, sooner or later they are caught doing it themselves.

No the whole music thing was 15 years earlier. 2things cost Gore the election

A) Clinton getting his dick sucked

B) Supporting sending Elian Gonzales back to Cuba. A lot of Cubans that normally vote Democrat either stayed home or voted for Bush.

New audio of statements by the prominent Iowa social-conservative group THE FAMiLY LEADER suggests the group believes essentially all pornography is illegal. Moreover, they are seeking commitments from presidential candidates to appoint an Attorney General who would prosecute almost all pornography found online or in stores.

SANTORUM joins Bachmann, vows to oppose ?all forms of pornography? |

Today, Rick Santorum joined Michele Bachmann and signed a new pledge by the influential social conservative group THE FAMiLY LEADER. By signing the pledge, Santorum ?vows? to ?uphold the institution of marriage as only between one man and one woman? by committing himself to 14 specifics steps. The pledge not only suggests that ?all forms of pornography? be banned, it also asserts that homosexuality is a choice and a health risk. Bachmann?s decision to sign the pledge ? and its radical position on pornography ? was covered by ABC, the Washington Post, the New York Daily News, Slate, and other news outlets.

... Please support your GOP leaders next election .. Ban porn in the USA ....

Ethersync 07-10-2011 06:48 PM

No surprise there. Santorum is a religious nut as well.

uno 07-10-2011 09:11 PM

Was that the same pledge that said life was better for black kids under slavery than it is today?
