What is the best CMS?
Is wordpress the only option now a days?
What about Joomla and Drupal? |
If you're looking for a CMS with many features such as photo/video management, scheduling of future content updates, and more along with full technical support and works under heavy server loads then CARMA is the right software for you.
You will also receive a 2 part over the phone walk-through by one of our techs that will guide you through the entire admin interface, show you how to use every feature, and get you comfortable overall with using CARMA. We will also handle the installation of CARMA on your server and give you full phone and ticket support. You can view additional information on CARMA by going to: https://www.toomuchmedia.com/pp_carma.htm or login in to our demo by going to http://carma.demosite.com Also, If anyone would like a guided demo over the phone please let me know a time and day that works for you. |

CARMA looks cool.
I used AWiz and have for several years...I like it... |
I prefer Joomla over Drupal, but their SEF URLs break randomly, which can be a pain in the ass. Overall though, I'd have to say Wordpress is probably the best and easiest. If you want a CMS combined with a forum, then vBulletin is very good as well.

I'm surprised more people aren't using tube scripts as their CMS. I've been using Smart Tube Pro for my pay tube, although I do plan on getting a Mech Bunny license and using that instead...
|
What are you trying to do? CMS's can have different purposes.

X2K CMS is a great product it supports subscription, PPV, VOD, LIVE, TUBE business models in addition to a few others. It also has an encoding engine as well as a slick player. Additional features support physical product with a shopping cart as well. Feel free to contact me for a demo and or some sample sites using the software.

We are leaning towards WP but are considering others if they are better. Good templates are a factor. |

For general use or very simple sites, Wordpress is a great option.
If you're looking for a serious adult CMS platform for running subscription sites as well as tube style pay sites, mobile, iPad and VOD sites take a look at Elevated X. With frequent updates and more than 100 features it's one of the industry's most popular and most widely used pay site management systems of the past 5 years. You will not find anything else out there that's comparable. The best part is that our product does it all right out of the box with zero customization needed. Feel free to ICQ, email or call me at 800-690-9277 ext 1 and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. AJ |

Custom work is the best. |
Wordpress ftw.
|
Go with Wordpress imho... for whatever reason, any "adult" focused CMS solution is grossly overpriced compared to other non adult platforms. And often times, they do not deliver what's promised. And then, on top of being grossly overpriced, most ioncube encode the ever living shit out of the source code, leaving you with no real way to customize anything... but of course they can do it for you for a grossly overpriced fee.
Not trying to talk shit about anyone in particular, but seriously.. open source beats over priced any day of the week. And the worst ones are those who don't have pricing listed right on their site.. as if they first want to gauge how much you can afford to spend, so they can twist "their" price around your money; instead of offering a flat rate. IMHO, go with open source and customize to your needs. Hire someone to code if you need to, but nothing out there beats open source + self customization. |

For ease of use on the customer end, especially for smaller businesses with not much inhouse knowledge, for updates etc once the site is up I hear typo3 is pretty good. Have no experience with it myself though but am having a site made for a client at the moment using typo3 so I'm about to find out. There is quite a range of small to large sized companies using typo3. http://www.typo3northamerica.com/who-uses-typo3.html I am a wordpress lover myself. |
looks like you dont need any of these, elevatedx, carma, etc.
since its not for a paysite. i would go wordpress for business. |
Elevatedx its very nice. i used for more than 1 year for my sites... i just need a little help to make new tour templates, designers hit me

here is a popular, open source cms:
http://www.concrete5.org/ if you want something extremely simple and are willing to pay 25 bucks a month, you can use something like http://www.surrealcms.com Its basically a ckeditor type hosted cms. you build your site, add div tags with class=editable for every editable region on any page you want and you can set up a subdomain where clients can login, choose their page and edit away. You can add multiple editing sections on one page and when the client goes to edit that page, there will be tabs up top you can name for each editable section. You can charge people a very low monthly fee and have this paid monthly after a few clients. If you setup a domain or subdomain you can customize the admin with your logo, colors, etc. Best of luck to ya. |

chaze, just pick the right provider.
We've been around for a very long time, and my customers always get their fixes. If you get a free CMS you might not be able to reach the support at all. So like I said, pick the right provider for your custom CMS. |
I have been Joomla 1.7 for about a week now and I am pretty happy. Completely blows away 1.5 as far as core functions and size of code/speed.
