You're using old capcha that was cracked about 8 month ago.

I had a phpbbforum that I kind of forgot... cleaned it 3-4 months ago, then forgot. And 3 days ago I had well over 3000 "members" and a shitload of posts, all spam. Deleted the whole install and will consither making a new one.

Not sure if that forum use str_replace like the old forum UBB. If so, just add all the spam urls into a database and make them link somewhere else.

Is there a way to redirect all links with like htaccess or something like that - I mean anything that does not require coding, etc.???

Because you can setup gazillion fourms, then they'll be populated by spammers in like no time and all you have to is one click redirect and boom - gazillion dollars in your bank account!

I have an old phpbb that attracts so many spammers I closed the auto signup. People have to email me for a login... So, of course, they dont...

But I'd love to leave it open to spambots and changed the links with one click :)

I'd even pay for a script to do it :)

I switched out my captcha to use q&a captcha and it stopped the spam shit dead in the tracks.

I also have some custom mods that I made to the registration to kill users coming off of ripe or apnic ips. Since my forum is supposed to be a local forum it works for me.

I used to send anyone I could determine was a non-local user to a playpen of sorts where they could spam away but noone could see it but when I hit about 10k users in the playpen the hits against the db weren't worth the fun of watching them spam themselves anymore.

If you did want to change out the links it would be easy enough to run a script through the posts and change out all the urls in the posts, only problem there would be identifying urls in legitimate user posts so that you don't change them out.

I don't think you could do anything in htaccess because the links point to other servers, to redirect them you would have to have access to the links destination servers to do that. (Key phrase in there is "I don't think" ;p )

I use vBulletin but even email verification and recaptcha wasn't good enough. Akismet stopped it completely.

HAHA I did also, deleted the entire install!

My Mail server was so backed up, fucking stupid...
