I drove to work in this today... it was pretty amazing. Pulled out of the house and didn't realize what was going on until my car was completely out of the garage...

Got on the surface streets I take to the freeway and there was maybe 15 feet of visibility... the road was virtually empty and I could see the lines on the pavement, and the streetlights once I was about 20 feet from them. I was going slow enough that I could stop if I came to a red light.

Once I got on the freeway things got worse. Half the cars were using their hazard lights, and half of those were driving and the other half were parked. REALLY surprised there wasn't an accident on my 8 mile drive to work, but then again I just might not have been able to see it.

It was very surreal. I've never seen anything like it and hopefully the next time it happens I'm not driving so I can enjoy the sights. I don't even really know how to put the feeling into words, but it reminded me very much of some sort of post apocalyptic world scene from a movie.

It's probably due to my weird schedule or just not leaving the house unless I need to but it's the first time I've driven in one ... and I've lived in AZ since 1999 and have been driving since 2002.

At least a couple times a year. They're called Haboob's. Usually accompanied by some wicked rain which settles the dust/dirt but this time it barely sprinkled where I was at in Phoenix.
