Happy Independence Day ( FROM THE UK! )

I lived in the USA for about 7/8 years, and LOVED IT... :thumbsup

One of my most memorable nights, was going out for a walk in Woodland Hills, (Where I first lived after moving to the USA) and finding all these people sitting on the grass near the Marriot...

Not knowing why they were sat there, we sat down as well, and bought some beer and hotdogs from a vendor... Then the fireworks started!

AMAZING!

I had NO IDEA it was the 4th of July !

Happy Independence day guys! (Fucking MISS YAH :thumbsup)

Straight answer?

Loved it so much, I overstayed my visa...
Got deported... (6 months in Jail in the US) Then a flight back to the UK...

I have to laugh in a way though... I'm not exactly proud of myself, but to put it in perspective....

Most people have been banned from a club, or a pub... A *few* people in the UK (ASBOs) have been banned from towns...

But me?

I have been BANNED FROM AN ENTIRE FUCKING CONTINENT!!!

Surly some respect for that is due? lol :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

So does that mean that you will never be able to travel to the US ever again?

CurrentlySober 07-04-2011 12:32 PM

Well *technically* not for ten years, ( 2014 ) but even if I wait 15 years, I still have 're-apply' as I was deported...

But no biggy...

CANADA AWAITS LOL

I started off in Woodland Hills, in Erwin St... Just down the road from the 2 malls, and a 7/11... LOVLY... Didn't even have a car for two years! Didn't need one... !

Then I moved to Marriet Circle, in Thousand Oaks... Cool house with a swimming pool and tennis court!

Then, I lived in downtown LA where I ran a 32,000 sq foot fully licensed movie production studio, just off of Alameda...

After that? San Diego... Lovely place too... BUT... A *bit* close to the border - Hence *random* Homeland Security raids, on local business... I happened to be in one, while a raid took place ! 'Opps!'

The rest is history, and I ended up back HERE...

CurrentlySober 07-04-2011 01:06 PM

Yup.. But I call that *unfortunate*...

NOT cause I have an issue with 'ZummerZet'... My Auntie lived in Frome and I spent many a happy childhood holiday there...

But because I'm 5500 miles from my 'REAL' home... USA! :)

In truth - It does really...

You see, I never 'broke a law' in the USA... (I consider the visa overstay to be a 'technicality')

By that I mean, I didn't steal off of anyone while I was there... I didn't take or sell drugs while I was there, I didn't hurt anybody while I was there... and I didn't ask for anything from the government while I was there...

ALL I DID WAS TOO LOVE THE USA SO MUCH, I DIDNT GET ON A PLANE.... :(

But what I did WAS wrong... and I hold no animosity towards what happened... (If you cant do the time - Dont do the crime... etc) But fair enough...

What will be, will be... Hence Canada LOL

Well lets hope so...

But I am not 'holding out' for it...

As the saying goes - Life is easy - Just make choices - Never look back

and I made my choices... Perhaps Canada with its UK/USA/FRENCH attitude will be what I am looking for?

But one thing is for sure... I will take a "HOLIDAY' first, then, if I like it... I WILL MOVE THERE LEGALLY!!

I have learnt my lesson lol :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I live in Canada, it's not so bad. Great weather 5 months of the year, nice weather 2 months and 5 months of cold and snow, but all in all I can't complain. Scotland is terrible weather 9 months a year so I'm 4 months up lol.

We live on the border of USA/Canada which is great even tho it is Detroit. Only thing that would make my life much better right now is if the USD got stronger. Hoping that will happen in the next 12 months.
