Big Pharma Attempting To Squeeze Out Medical Marijuana
They want the money, and they aren't happy they were cut out of the deal...
from the story... Just as the federal government is clamping down on medical marijuana dispensaries, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) may be set to give Big Pharma the clearance to take over the market. In 2007, GW Pharmaceuticals announced that it partnered with Otsuka to bring "Sativex" -- or liquefied marijuana -- to the U.S. The companies recently completed Phase II efficacy and safety trials testing and began discussion with the FDA for Phase III testing. Phase III is generally thought to be the final step before the drug can be marketed in the U.S. story continues here... http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/04/2...ijuana-market/ |
hrrrrrmmmmmmm, interesting.......

i don't see it happening. the syn thc pills didn't change anything and neither will this. imo. extracting the thc from marijuana leaves out all the other chemicals that provide the gestalt effects of weed.

this does not negate one single thing i stated. i said the syn version does not work currently i also said an extracted thc from marijuana won't work either. |

The government could make a fortune taxing weed, and it really needs revenue right now, but once again, the Big Corps want the money, so they will likely get their way instead.
The Big Corps always push agendas designed to pit the citizens against the government. The people always eat this shit up, like the pathetic sheep they are, and wahlah! the government is out, and people are royally fucked over by the Big Corps instead! You know, stuff like "keep the government out of your healthcare" but it's fine for the Big Insurance companies to charge you out the ass, and DECIDE FOR YOU what treatments they will or won't cover, etc. But hey, at least it's not the damned government, right? Those damn thieves! We don't want the damned government controlling the prison system, the government is filled with waste and corruption! So now we are getting a privatized, corporate run, prison system instead. That should take care of the problems, right? Now those prison corps lobby the government for more laws, to make sure prison sentences are longer, and more small crimes equal prison time, so they can see bigger profits. Since our politicians are bought and paid for, they go along with the greedy bullshit. But hey, at least it's not the damned government, right? Those damn thieves! I can go on and on with these comparisons, but in my opinion, although the government can't be the answer to everything, in many cases it is a better bet. People will hold the government accountable for many things that the corporations are allowed to skirt. Every time you trade off government control to corporate enterprises instead, we seem to lose, and the corruption continues, it's just easier to hide. |

What a lot of people don't realize is that the govt and other industries are already making a fortune with marijuana being illegal. If marijuana became legal almost half the cops in the country would be unemployed, a quarter the prisons would be shut down, cities would go broke from the lack of forfeiture and fine proceeds, and almost half a million people that work in the courts, jails, and rehab facilities would be out of a job. These are the people that benefit from prohibition and are being funded by our tax dollars and the 858,408 people arrested every year (one every 30 seconds) for the simple use of marijuana. |
its hard to see a pharma product that would be effective like a purple kush with 30% THC. If it can't match the real deal, it won't sell in the marketplace. & obviously pots illegal status has no effect on its availability.

No strain contains 30% THC, especially a purple strain. |

hehehe. |

OK. My point was not about kush having 30% THC. Please excuse my embellishment given i dont frequent CA dispenseries.
the point is simply if it does not equal the effects of potent pot, it will fail in the market. |
i like Attempting To Squeeze one Out ...
