Aussie Webmasters - Foreign Cheques
 

Just curious what other Aussie webmasters are paying in transaction fees on foreign cheques these days ?

I'm with Westpac and pay $20 per check and they cash them the same day, if the checks are all from one place. like ccbill, it's only $20 to cash all of them and $9 for wires.

$10 per cheque - commonwealth bank.

$10 bucks fee, US Dollar value, makes these cheques less and less enjoyable :(

Also since the epassporte debacle, the number of cheques from different co's has increased :(

I'm with ANZ and have used various branches and find it can often vary from branch to branch. It is supposed to be $15 per check. My local branch will do several for $15 total and the manager put a note on my account so every teller knows it apparently.

I was doing the same for a while, but new manager and tellers and it all became too hard.

The branch I go to now is good. Same three or four girls and they all know me now... I see the mock dread on their faces when my ticket number comes up and they see me with 6 checks in hand. :1orglaugh

It still amazes me at just how much paper work there is for a single cheque - absolutely insane.

How do you access the money? Are the cheques cleared instantly?

And how does someone in the farflung antipodes get a US$ account with NAB?

Westpac, 6 cheques for $20. Negotiated this with the manager and I've had this deal for years.

currently ive let my cheques build up for a bit, I got 8 sitting here now and im a little embarrassed to take em all in at once, its going to take ages to process em all. I used to flirt with the teller who was cute but haven't seen her for ages :(

how do I get a $US acct at the NAB?

3 for $10 at NAB ...cleared on the spot ...all depends on who you see at the banks and how many a month you do

you really have to know your bank staff if you dont want a headache every single time you try to deposit a cheque

Wespac - 10 cheques for $20, cleared on the spot, had the same deal for a few years. And the bank staff run and hide if the see me walk in with cheques in hand, lol, the amount of paper work they have to do.
