Someone is selling a used Sony HDR-HC1 camcorder on Craigslist for 300$

What's better? This, or a new cheap 200-400$ HD camcorder?

check the specs and reviews on that sucker. and i would also get it from bhphoto

although i gotta admit i do like the dv tape option on the HDR-HC1

Canon vixias rock and are real cheap if you find a good deal :)

i used the HDR-HC1 for several years but eventually upgraded to the Canon Vixia HF S200 and i love it! the sony was a nice cam but the vixia blows it away. the vixia is a top rated camera and i think you can get it for $600 now. add the wide angle lens and external mic and you'll have a nice set-up!
