Fellow doc lover...

Here's some on Instwatch

Collapse - " Ruppert's monologue explains how the lies and political propaganda fed to Americans by big business will eventually lead to human extinction." One of the best docs I've seen in the past few years.

God Grew Tired of Us - "After raising themselves in the desert along with thousands of other "lost boys," Sudanese refugees John, Daniel and Panther have found their way to America, where they experience electricity, running water and supermarkets for the first time."

The Vice Guide to Travel - You can catch pretty much catch all of their stuff on VBS.tv - but my favorite episode on Netflix is by far VICE Guide to North Korea.

Try out George Gently. Excellent British crime drama. New show, but takes place in the mid 1960s.

awwhoez 06-17-2011 08:54 PM

watch The Experiment or Cube 2: Hypercube

I have to agree with Jayvis,

Collapse was one of the best docs I've seen in years.

Other mind altering docs:

- The Trap
- The Century of Self
- The Cove

Apparently"Catfish" is supposed to be good, haven't seen that one yet.

Movies:

- Chopper
- Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
- Amelie
- Moon
- Barry Lyndon
- The Sea Inside
- Volver
- Talk to her
- Bad education

Just to name a few off the top of my head. I usually find the best way to discover gems is to branch off from a favorite respected actor or director of yours. When you have run through all the overlooked us movies, go to foreign.

It's not on instant stream, otherwise I might take a little time to watch it.

I'm currently watching the Dexter series, I don't have Showtime so I have never seen it.

I'm enjoying Dexter so far, on episode 9 of season 1. Have not watched Breaking Bad yet, but have heard great things about it.
