So a scorpion crawling on my shoulder woke me up

Not a nice way to wake up from a nap eh? Sent my daughter to Wallyworld to pick up a black light. Now I'm afraid to go to bed. LOL.

From what I've read online they laugh at insectacides. Boric acid works but takes time. When she gets back with the blacklight gonna do a good search. Interestingly it seems that cats are really good at catching them.

Must not have used it then. I spray that shit on them and they drop dead

Yeah but other than direct contact what can you bait them with? From what I've read making a boric acid wash works but takes time. Also read that sprinking comet on your carpet works.

Boozer 06-16-2011 06:56 PM

I have two cats. They love to mess with them when they spot them

Redrob 06-16-2011 06:57 PM

In Texas, my cat usually notices them first and makes a commotion.

I dont spray it on them (unless I see one) mix 3 oz/gallon spray perimeter inside/outside and you WILL see results

So probably this florida bark scorpion, centruroides gracilis. It says not deadly but extremely painful. Probably should attempt to fumigate the sleeping area to some degree and get rid of places for it to hide or extra bedding and clothing.

Boozer 06-16-2011 06:59 PM

another thing that works is diatomaceous earth. I sprinkle that around the block wall as a first layer of defense

Spunky 06-16-2011 07:02 PM

Wouldn't they sting the cats?

I dont think they can get the stinger through the fur. I cant imagine they would enjoy a sting on the nose though.

My cats actually get mad when I pull them away.

I once woke up to the sound of my cats scratching and clawing in my master bathroom. It was an odd sound, something out the ordinary, so I got up and turned on the light, and found that she had cornered a scorpion in the bathroom. I killed it with a shoe.

This means the scorpion had to go through the house, climb up the stairs and walk through the bedroom.

I woke to find one in my bed in a hotel in Arizona. Poor little fucker just wanted to cuddle up and get warm..

marlboroack 06-16-2011 09:07 PM

Black light won't do anything but make the Scorpion more visual and nice UVA-B rays for age and growing. Just figured I'd let you know. Maybe your just getting it so you can see them in the dark better.

There is a flower called "buhac" which is natual insecticide against any cold blood organism so it should work. But not sure can you get it in USA

calvinawe 06-17-2011 04:15 AM

probably just an urban legend but i've read that if you pour alcohol on a scorpion, it goes apeshit and stabs itself to death. almost sure it's BS but maybe worths a search

cherrylula 06-17-2011 05:04 AM

fuck all that!
