[Labret] 01-26-2003 12:55 AM

errr if they flew one over California and we shot it down, that would be ok yeah?

Fro 01-26-2003 12:57 AM

stevo beat me to the link.

andi_germany 01-26-2003 02:43 AM

If you fly a spy plane over another nation you cannot whine when it is shot down although it seems it simply crashed.

SNOW 01-26-2003 03:40 AM

U2"S Don't crash man, There fricken gliders. Had to have been shot.

Apollo 01-26-2003 07:20 AM

if the plane was in N. Korea airspace why wouldn't you think they'd try to shoot it down? You think the US would hesitate to drop a spy plane violating it's airspace?

Hope the pilot is okay and anyone else who happened to be on the plane at the time.

ChrisH 01-26-2003 07:26 AM

Actually it was over South Korea, 31 miles south of Seoul.

At 70,000 feet it is out of range from most anti-aircraft fire. Also seems like the pilot is dead.

Maybe he hit a goose.

Lol how do you know that? Every plane can crash. Maybe a mistake by the pilot, software problem etc. This is a dumb answer, starting to blame other countries without taken notice of all info...

I have a degree in Aeronautics you dipweed. If you knew anything about the U2 then you would have not made a stupid comment like this. There is a huge difference between a plane and a glider with and engine. Typical okie....

Whats the purposes of these spy planes in a day and age when

the CIA and etc. can get all the information they need through the Satellites?

That way, they wouldn't violate nobodys airspace either.

weird.

satelites cannot look at specific places at specific times because they are constantly moving in orbit. they can only look at what they happen to be passing over at the time. so if we need to see what is going on at a certain place at a certain time reconnisence planes/drones will always be needed.

Aside from the post above. They know when the satelites pass over... So a spy plane is the only alternative.

TurboTrucker 01-27-2003 01:42 AM

Are you saying gliders can't crash?

my understanding of the U2 is that it is an antiquated airplane - whose pilots have a difficult time controlling it - both because of it's age and the altitude its forced to fly at.

what's your "expert" opinion then Snow?

the plane took off in S/Korea and then was shot down
by S/Korea ? don't think so :2 cents:

.:Frog:. 01-27-2003 05:46 AM

way to contradict yourself. what do you think happens when u shoot down a plane, it crashes right? or does it not crash?

McSpike 01-27-2003 06:19 AM

who gives a fuck why they crashed until you hear the real news. besides how will you know the news are real. give me a break.

supportex 01-27-2003 06:41 AM

I hardly think we will know the truth :(

B40 01-27-2003 08:25 AM

It crashed on purpose.

Blame Korea.

Validates invasion.

End of Story.

Zebra 01-27-2003 08:41 AM

Snow, hate to tell you this, but after 4 years of working on all types of jets in the Air Force I can safely say that ANY aircraft can crash. Seen rudders, ailerons, tails, wings fall off of perfectly good multi-million dollar aircraft before. Guess what sometimes happens when things go wrong? What goes up must come down.
