No way. Macs never have problems. Why are you lying?!

DamianJ 06-13-2011 07:19 AM

WHat was the serial number? There was a class action in the states because loads of (I think nvidea) cards failed and even if it is past guarantee they still have to replace it...

Emil 06-13-2011 07:23 AM

Macs are stable as fuck, you can trust your life with it so stop talking shit.

it's the backlight that failed - first only every second lamp, now all of them

candyflip 06-13-2011 07:32 AM

Apple replaces shit even when your computer is out of warranty. They just replaced things in my old Macbook just a few weeks back. Unfortunately I was also there getting an HDD replacement in a brand new Macbook Pro.

Best thing about the entire experience was that I was that I dropped them off at the store, took a lap around the Mall and they were there waiting for me when I got back. No one else can manage that.

dyna mo 06-13-2011 07:34 AM

my sony vaio just did that, i went office space on it.

Klen 06-13-2011 08:17 AM

I would never buy anything from apple, overpriced garbage with fancy color.

Alex69 06-13-2011 08:38 AM

just get a 2-3k$ hp elitebook workstation (most powerfull and durable laptops out there)

gleem 06-13-2011 08:42 AM

my 3 year old mac pro screen died and I took it to the apple store and they swapped me in a new one free of charge. Big mistake to dump it.

if for some reason you don't want to take it into apple, you can replace the backlight yourself:

L-Pink 06-13-2011 08:44 AM

It probably picked up a virus when you were in Thailand.

Tom_PM 06-13-2011 08:48 AM

3 years is sucky.. My 10+ yr old pc's are all still working. I'm on ie6 right now on a celeron, haha. (why am I bragging? lmfao)

I just realized that my primary computer is already four years old, LOL. Computers don't wash out as fast as they used to.

i need to work and here in CZ is no Apple store around. and since i ran it on windows anyways, there were more things that annoyed me. i will try to get a new screen and then probably sell it

Sid70 06-13-2011 09:15 AM

Never owned a laptop for longer then 2 years yet ( i sell them when they are about 1,5 y.o.) , so I can't tell about Mac. But VAIO fucks up every now and then. I prefer HP to work on.

depends on your luck. the piece that keeps your screen from smashing shut broken on me, so if you lean the screen down it comes crashing closed.

although it was under warranty they wouldn't replace it, said it was user error.

months after the warranty expired the battery died and wouldnt keep a charge at all (even would say "not charging") and they gave me a new one right there.

tranza 06-13-2011 01:04 PM

I feel bad for you... :(

We bought HP's for our employees . . . . they are, without a doubt, the biggest piece of crap we have ever purchased.

+1

I've had at least 7 HP computers, both desktops and laptops now. Each and every one has had problems.

I had to send one of my laptops back to get the power plug fixed - where you plug the power cord into. They told me they needed to replace the whole motherboard, which may or may not have been a lie but stupid design on their part but what got me was while they had my laptop, they replaced the battery and hard drive with refurbs. I lost everythingggg. No reason to touch them and they couldn't give a shit what their 'techs' did with it.

So with a <1 year old laptop, I had a refurb battery that lasted <30 minutes, and a refurb hard drive with none of my pictures, work docs and programs, or anything on there.

My three dell laptops have had some issues but nothing close to HP, so I'll probably stick with them for awhile.

MaDalton 06-14-2011 09:16 AM

working the whole day on my new laptop now - with a second screen attached - all is good :glugglug
