Who here rides the bus?

Who here rides the bus?

Serious - not just for economic reasons too, many cities have bus lanes for faster travel in rush hour, no parking hassles, etc....

so fess up - who rides the bus?

or better yet - does anyone here take a train to work?

Phoenix 06-09-2011 12:07 AM

i normally drive...but im considering taking the go train to work this summer

leave early in the morning and it goes nearby my office
thing is i cant stay too late, so just have to pack up and leave sometimes
eh...ill probably just keep on driving..lol

harvey 06-09-2011 12:26 AM

if it's within the metro area, I take subway whenever possible, and sometimes even train (depending where to go) otherwise I drive. Sometimes I drive to the zone where traffic starts to get crowded and take the subway from there

Theo 06-09-2011 12:27 AM

I have a driver, but whenever I'm back home I do get the metro since is the fastest way to go from home to office. Buses are great in some european countries, but for example in states they barely exist. I bet Canada has a superior transportation system.

all depends on the city, some are better then others... Canada and USA

When I used to live about 20km from Amsterdam, the bus was quicker than driving in, as it had it's own lane than never got congested.

garce 06-09-2011 01:16 AM

I no longer have a car or a license. I'll hire/rent a car, or take the bus/subway. Much less stressful for me.

calvinawe 06-09-2011 03:11 AM

i hate driving :( bus when i'm in a hurry but i prefer walking.

Vjo 06-09-2011 03:27 AM

Something about a big city bus. I havnt been on one in many years and yet if I stop and think you can hear it, smell it, feel the inertia as you are walking and it is moving. Sticks with ya. :)

Do you still have to put like 35 cents (or more) :) in the coin deal by the driver. That was always fun trying to get the money in there while the inertia throws you the other way.

The coins would fall on this moving conveyer belt so the driver could see if you put a quarter and a dime. I swear you could throw anything as so many coins going in. 8 people getting on. But I never tested the driver to see. Always 35 cents. :)

Emil 06-09-2011 03:33 AM

Going 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) with the bus cost me about $5.
What's the point if I can go the same distance with my car and it will cost me less than $1 and the car is just outside the door....

But I work from home so I rarely need to go with car/bus.

Voted :pimp

L-Pink 06-09-2011 03:46 AM

I don't do public transportation.

OY 06-09-2011 03:59 AM

In Los Angeles, never. In Europe, a lot.

scarlettcontent 06-09-2011 04:28 AM

I think most peeps in this biz work at home. I hate public transport so I use my car or motorbike when needed

Oracle Porn 06-09-2011 04:31 AM

Every area is very different.

For example in South Florida on degenerates take the bus, while in NYC everyone rides the subway.

GTS Mark 06-09-2011 04:42 AM

Usually drive however I'd like to take my bike more often this summer.

ottopottomouse 06-09-2011 05:05 AM

Nope.

And I only found out last week how expensive it is too.

6 miles from the nearest town cost someone coming here £3.30 ($5.50) - more per mile that the complete running costs of a car.

You should take it from orangeville to Toronto!

Buses are the way to go in San Francisco.

Not so much in Southern California.

It depends on how your city is laid out and what transit alternatives are available

Coup 06-09-2011 05:25 AM

If i lived closer to a metro area I would definitely ride the bus a lot. I fucking hate driving in downtown/city situations.

seeandsee 06-09-2011 06:06 AM

you want me coocked, fuck off :)

Jman 06-09-2011 06:14 AM

When I go back to Montreal from Quebec I take the bus... Cheaper then car and with Wifi I can use that 3 hours to work non stop.

czarina 06-09-2011 06:16 AM

My office is a 3 minute walk from my bedroom.

fitzmulti 06-09-2011 06:20 AM

"Another one" does. ;-)

spazlabz 06-09-2011 06:34 AM

There is no bus service in my area but if there was and it was convenient and clean I would have no problem taking it

PR_Glen 06-09-2011 06:44 AM

transit systems sucks balls here in windsor so I don't bother.. cabs are pretty cheap still so that helps. When i lived in the toronto area i'd take the bus and the train to get around, especially when i was in school, theres no reason to drive in the city. Subways rock, but the one in TO is pretty limited still unfortunately. They need to upgrade and add some new lines. At least so you can get to the airport..

CaptainHowdy 06-09-2011 06:49 AM

Small town, I just walk ...

Scott McD 06-09-2011 07:09 AM

Nope. Hate taking the bus here. Can't remember the last time i took was on one. Though i do remember they usually smell of piss.

I'll take the car thank you very much...

adultzone 06-09-2011 07:16 AM

When the boss called and wanted to me to report at the office I take a bus much more cheaper but when its in hurry I ride my own car

MattO 06-09-2011 07:17 AM

I rode the bus last winter when my transmission blew up. Actually got in good shape because the bus stop was a mile from my house and all that walkin did me good.

Nikki_Licks 06-09-2011 07:25 AM

When I have visited of Cities, like Downtown Chicago, we have taken the L which is not really a bus and we have been on buses in other states, but their system was nice and not a cluster fuck unlike Phoenix.
You couldn't pay me to get on a bus in Phoenix.....:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I prefer to drive myself....

Mutt 06-09-2011 07:28 AM

people smell .... so no.

18teens 06-09-2011 08:22 AM

I work from home but I use my car for running errands and visiting people.

alias 06-09-2011 08:32 AM

No air in those things, nope.

CDSmith 06-09-2011 08:33 AM

There are plenty here who ride the SHORT bus though. :D

Me, I haven't ridden on a bus in... must be going on 20 years now. Car or bike (road/mtn bike) or walk.

My vote: I work from home. My office is about a 5 second walk from my bedroom.
