Buying domains on Sedo?

Bought a domain yesterday, paid for it as well. What kind of time frame am I looking at until I have the domain in my possession? The seller seems pretty active. Week? Two weeks?

The seller doesn't get his/her money until SEDO can verify the domain is now in your possession. I would simply make contact with the seller and ask for the Authorization code (EPP) and then have my preferred registrar initiate the transfer.

I would say a week, give or take a day or so up or down.

1-2 days from my experience

It can happen in 1-2 days but it can take longer. SEDO has accounts at most registrars. If they have an account at the same registrar as the seller it will go quickly - a few days tops. If they do not it will take around 7 days from the time your registrar requests the domain with the auth code.

If you're doing a transfer from the seller's registrar to your registrar, ICANN rules state that the transfer should be approved by the losing registrar within 5 days after submitting a valid transfer request with the correct EPP code. This is assuming you bought a .com or something under the control of ICANN. non-ICANN ccTLDs may have different rules.

If the domain is being pushed to Sedo and then to you, it is usually quick, but can take much longer. I've seen Sedo listed in WHOIS, even months after I've pushed a domain to their account and received proceeds from the sale.

10 days to 14 days. Sedo transfer agent is 1 overworked guy and only responds via ticket systeM

HomerSimpson 06-03-2011 06:10 PM

they are slow...

LiveDose 06-03-2011 07:57 PM

I agree with Pipecrew. Keep on top of the agent. They can become a little slow sometimes.

domain transfer takes time,
instead u should have used escrow service.,

pay to them,
create free acount at registrar and tell seller to push the domain.
domain receive at ur end and do whatever u wanna do.

Kolargol 06-04-2011 06:19 AM

it took me over a week when I bought a domain from them.

fogfever 06-04-2011 06:22 AM

takes a while with Sedo... could be 1 to 2 weeks.

Sold a name yesterday. Buyer has already paid for it. However, SEDO only works bankers hours and instructs me not to transfer the name yet. It'll be Monday afternoon or Tuesday before they get around to letting me transfer or push the name to them. Sometimes if timed right early in the week, it can all be done in a day or two but that's the exception mostly due to their hours.

Based on the logs, they told my seller to transfer yesterday. I guess now I just wait for the seller to provide the authorization codes?

Depends where the name is currently. Usually, it involves me pushing the domain into Sedo's account with the same registrar (ie. Enom to Enom, etc..). A push happens immediately, but sometimes it's 7 days before they can push it to another account. If it's a regular transfer, they're probably having it transferred into their account with the registrar you'll be using. Depending on the registrar, the transfer can take 5 days. Then, they'll likely push it to your account.

Still waiting. I suppose I would be more patient if my "account rep" would answer his messages. Shelling out $850 with a service I've never used before and not getting any sort of reply is a little unnerving.

give them a call

scarlettcontent 06-14-2011 06:31 AM

2 or 3 days
