Software to mass rename?

Hi,
I have a lot of pics in a lot of sub-directories, and I am seeking for a software that will check in each folder and rename each pic 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg etc.

does anyone know if a software like that exists, and if yes, can you give me its name?

If I don't want to rename them by hand, this is because of a reason...

I have 2 gigs of pics. (sponsor pics)

Download CKRename. I use it everyday and it does excatly what you're trying to do. Plus its free :thumbsup
