Was watching GP Monaco qualifying today, fuck are those rich people rich

They were showing an aerial view of a yacht in the harbor with maybe 30 chicks in bikinis and maybe 3 guys. Drinking champagne and just being assholes. The yacht had a helipad.

How do you get that rich to afford that and wander around in a bathrobe smoking a cigar with that many beautiful women? I imagine it takes multiple generations of accumulated wealth to be able to pull that off. A yacht like that could not even be affordable for an NFL star athlete, a Hollywood star or even some kind of movie producer or CEO of a Fortune 500.

First mover advantage. Ask the Dutch who bought Manhattan for $24.

You get what you pay for.

:2 cents:

Mick Jagger complained he was not rich enough for a yacht. Also, the Queen of England no longer has one.

Tasty1 05-28-2011 04:35 PM

Most yachts are rented.

Who the fuck wants to live in Haiti or even go there. For anything.

Altwebdesign 05-28-2011 05:13 PM

yup most are rented even still the prices are from around $20k.
ive been there and some of the yachts are stupidly gorgeous, even saw a few with helicopters parked on the back of them, always baffled me as to how they take off and land them as theres not much space!

Jenson for the win tomorrow!!

crockett 05-28-2011 05:42 PM

I remember several years back during a live broadcast on ESPN of the Monaco GP the camera man panned over to one of the yachts to zoom in on some topless chicks. Was kinda funny being caught the announcers off guard.

private jets and yachts - you need to be into the BILLIONS of net worth, super rich are like the middle class, some of them are conservative and live within their means, relatively speaking of course, and some billionaires live as large as their fortunes will allow.

This one is 350 million, the Dubai

and the world's most expensive yacht the Eclipse owned by Russian billionaire who owns Chelsea football club amongst other things - the boat is worth 1.2 Billion

Paul Allen has a 100 million dollar one that's the 10th most expensive yacht in the world.

So you buy the yacht, how much does it cost to run it per year?

the rule of thumb is it costs 10%-15% of the boats cost to run per year..

so 100 million dollar boat is 10mill a year...

you def need to have large stacks of paper to roll like that..

god bless capitalism... :thumbsup

Fuel, crew, maintenance, dock fees, .... The money you aren't making because of the ships cost. Who knows but it will probably make you appreciate our Navy more.

Yeah Monaco is a trip and a half. I was lucky enough to spend about 2 weeks there, it was really a nice place. We were making over under bets on how much a Big Mac combo was going to cost :) It was pretty reasonable it turned out. Seemed like every 3rd car we saw was a Ferrari or Aston Martin. Saw an Enzo there pulling out of a garage too. Even going to dinner you'd see the old rich ladies with massive rocks hanging off their fingers, and even the men wore fur coats.

lots and lots of very old currency in Europe

That's correct. There are only around 50 people in the world who don't rent out their 200 ft yachts.

It costs about 3.5 million a year to maintain, and about 1000 euros an hour in fuel to travel

JFK 05-29-2011 04:03 AM

Brad Mitchell may know a thing or two on the subject:2 cents::thumbsup
