Wow Google is really fucked up
 

I used to be able to just type in GFY and GFY would show up on no 4 on the first page Now if i type in GFY it doesent even show up. I have to type in GFY.COM Iv noticed this with other sites as well... Fuck google

For me, gfy.com is 8th.

Google gives results based on your habits and information now.

There was a TED video on it. They are filtering what people see. Same with Facebook.

Even with websearch history disabled? I know it's on by default. On this laptop I have left it on.

well if i type just GFY in without the .com it doesnt even show up on the first page anymore I have to put the .com in the search to get it tio show and I have never had to do this before I always just used to type in the letters GFY and it would show up on the first page 3rd or 4th from the top. I havent changed any setting settings in my Browser and I havent got safe search on either ..something has def changed as DWB said

Why don't you type GFY into the address bar instead of searching for a domain you already know?

I noticed that my GF types full domain names into the Google or MSN search instead of the address bar. I wonder how many other people do this, and how much this counts towards search engine traffic stats. I wouldn't be surprised if this counts for at least 10%.

Dont know really just habit I guess Iv allways gone on sites that way I very rarely type the name into the address bar I normaly only type the first word or words into the search bar then one click and your there, and i have so many bookmarked i rarly use that either cuase just trying to find the bookmarked site is a pain lol

gofugyourself probably has more weight - no the mainstreamers have stole "GFY" !! aaaahhhh

I find this so funny, but horribly good marketing by google led to this...

typing gfy.com in the address bar of a browser is CLEARLY faster than typing gfy into google search and THEN having to click a link to get there...

especially since the address bar would give you a link closer to the main page of the site you are looking for by just typing in gfy ... idiotic.

Install Ghostery if you are paranoid. GFY uses GA btw :)

It depends on the length of the site name I never type the whole name in on sites or never used to, cause google would normally list them and save me the time of typing in the whole name

I use firefox and just dragged the favicon from gfy.com (the middle finger icon on the address bar) to my toolbar as well as fb, vimeo etc so now i
just click the buttons on the toolbar to go to my fav sites =D

I think you can do this on chrome also.

Most people don't even know what the address bar is or what it does. In fact I think the latest Chrome beta doesn't even have one.

Browser history doesn't do it for you? I type GF, down arrow, and enter.

BTW it comes up #1 in Bing.

Nope cause when i close down firefox all the browsing history, cookies, download history, form and search history, active logins, cache and offline website data are deleted :thumbsup

Google is fucking crazy my sites has very often absolutely different positions on different computers, proxies, browsers...

Why does anyone that goes to a site frequently (daily or otherwise) actually type the address anywhere? Hell, Bookmark things and sort them.. Kind of like the way I have mine sorted.

The Google Adsense bookmark is in the wrong place. Will have to fix that. haha

HAhaha I have so many booked marked sites its not even funny and it would take me longer just to find the site im looking for instead of just typing in the first words/letters TBH I might as well just delete all my bookmarks cause i never use it.

Google has fucked up big time with the Panda Update.

Turn on autocomplete and it's even faster...

I type "go" and hit enter (since I used to load www.gofuckyourself.com)

gfy.com at nr 3 or nr 7 depending on the browser....


btw: yes, google's results are pretty fucked up.... it's becoming harder and harder to find what you are looking for using google.
