Memorial Day Weekend

Take a moment to reflect on the origins of Memorial Day as a day to reflect on the sacrifices of veterans that have given their lives for our country. The first Memorial Day was celebrated on May 30, 1868 just after the end of the terrible Civil War when so many American families had lost their loved ones.

Now, the holiday has taken on a more festive feeling with "Weekend Sales" and the beginning of the summer holidays for our kids. The changing attitude towards the holiday is not a bad thing; but, we should take a moment and remember its origin. Hang your flags if you have them.
