Off to get a root canal
 

In about an hour I am off to the dentist to get a root canal. Never had one and it doesn't sound like a lot of fun. They tell me the tooth isn't that bad so it won't suck as much as it could, but if I wait it will get worse and then the root canal will be worse.

At least the good news is I get pain meds and my girlfriend works there and looks hot in her scrubs, but I'm not looking forward to it.

I've had two, they're not that bad really. I get the laughing gas, and bring my ipod. Makes the experience fly by.

its not as bad as it used to be, unless you live in a 3rd world country or your dentist is from 1986.

before they used to have to cut the roof of your mouth up and you would be all sorts of fucked. now, they drill through the tooth. I had one years ago and was just like getting a cavity filled.

im the biggest pussy when it comes to the dentist and this wasnt bad at all.

I was supposed to get one done like 2 or more years ago and never did. Still haven't had any pain. Wonder what the deal is...

well, it only sucks without anesthesia - but then it sucks really bad. i heard. i never had one.

That is what they are telling me. hopefully it is the truth.

If you wait too long, the tooth may need to be extracted.If that's the case, you'd have to pay for the extraction, a temp unless you want to be without a tooth in that spot for 6 or so months, and then an implant.

The dentist told me if I waited too long that I could get an infection ( I think he called it a sepsis) and that I could lose the tooth or they would have to do a serious root canal to fix it and then cap the tooth.

Luckily I don't have to worry about that. We did a trade. I made is site #1 google for people searching for dentists in our town and he gives me free dental work. It worked out great for both of us.

Good luck man. I hope they don't botch it because major work will have to be done to fix it if they do, happened to a friend of mine. They didn't get the full root and the fractured tip left behind became infected and they had to surgically remove it. Was on a back tooth not the front like the one shown below.

Ouch. When I had to get a tooth extracted, the pain was pretty bad and the dentist said that if I had waited much longer, it would have been a medical condition, so maybe that's what he was talking about.

It aint that bad, I had one done and it was smooth as. Hope it goes well for ya.

You probably mean an abscess tooth which is what I had. He gave me some antibiotics and a referral to see someone that does root canals. I better go get something next next week.

I took my kid in for a root canal a few months ago. sad :(

I had braces at 12 yrs.. then had my top 6 front teeth capped cuase my tooth enamel was weak... (Prolly form the toxic glue from the braces and I paid for the second part myself)

GET YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY TO THE DENTIST AT LEAST ONCE A YR!!!

side note: I just went to the dentist after 8 yrs... no cavitties....

Youre going to have a world of fuck pain enter your mouth one day, happened to me and let me tell u what, worst timing too, happened around 6pm and I had to agonize all night til I could get in the next day, fuck

It's really not bad at all, numb the gum and job done.

If you're scared of the dentist, just reflect that nothing he/she will do will be worse than the tooth ache that gets you into the chair.

I need two extractions (wisdom teeth), and two fillings (teeth in front of wisdom) right now but no insurance is putting a halt to that. Thinking about heading down to Mexico and getting a dentist down there to do it for about 1/10th of the cost.

The amount of mountain dew and energy drinks has taken its toll on my teeth.

Just got home. It wasn't terrible. Didn't take too long and I was shot so full of Novocaine the side of my head is still numb. Got come Vicodin just in case. I hate that drill sound and smell, but onces that was over I didn't really notice other than him seeming to try to fit his entire arm in my mouth.

In a few hours as the numbness wears off I'll know for sure how bad it might suck.

You're right. It is an abscess tooth. From what I understand that is no fun.

It won't suck, it might be a bit sore for a while but the nerves are gone dead, nomore tooth ache
