Removal from Newsletter Results in Shut Down Account, WTF?

I have been asking to remove ourselves from WM newsletters because we get so many of them and we don't promote and won't promote most that send to me. This is an exchange of emails that happened between myself and the rep:

Newsletter Received

My reply:
Please remove [email protected] from receiving mailings.

Their reply:
Hi Kristin-

I have moved your status to "pending" which will remove you from mailings - please allow 1 week for the list to sync. Please note that any future traffic you send from banners you have up will no longer track in the XXXXXX software.

My reply:
So our account stops tracking when we no longer want to receive your newsletters?

Their reply:
Yes, that's right. The email list is generated from active affiliate accounts. Would you prefer I move you back to "active" status?

My reply:
No, can you tell me if we have any monies in our account?

Their reply: (from Director of Ops this time)
Hi Kristin,
I show $112.38 in earned commissions through the period ending March 31, 2011. We expect to make the next round of payouts soon. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you.

So if I don't want to receive mailings, I can't have an active account? So much for my rebills. WTF?

I logged into yet another program I haven't checked or been paid on in forever to discover they closed their "affiliate program." And I had epassporte selected, and about $200 in there, and I seriously doubt they're going to pay me.

so yeah, big pain in the ass, hope they pay you at least... lol

96ukssob 05-25-2011 10:42 AM

wow that sounds pretty retarded.

most emails I get I created filters in gmail and they go into the trash

Roald 05-25-2011 10:44 AM

Lol now thats not nice!

;)))))

Raja 05-25-2011 10:45 AM

Somebody does not know how to use NATS. LOL.

Rochard 05-25-2011 10:46 AM

I get tons of email from all affiliates. Even if I don't promote them I like seeing what they are up to.

Adraco 05-25-2011 11:29 AM

I sincerely hate those emails! They take up time and I just do not want to look at them, it's a distraction from other things. I have email rules and filters to weed out the most of them, just because a program want to talk to me, doesn't mean that I want or intend to listen.

I might want a mail to summarize amount of sales on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis and a notice on when a payment has been sent.

So just have your email box accounts@... forward to a gmail address, enter filters there to weed out the promo emails and then forward all other emails to say accounts2@... That should free up a bit of the frustration for you and still all emails are there, should you ever need them.

Outch that's bad :Oh crap

:2 cents: This. Always nice to know what people are doing.

I am just bombared with spam due some sponsors having compromised their affiliate database.Seems i will need to use [email protected] format instead [email protected] which i use currently.

Is that their code for "we're gonna' spam the fuck outta' you for the next 7 days and then sell your email address to every fucker that's ever even thought of becoming a spammer to give time for their opt-in emails to hit your inbox".

Giving you the big " :moon " on your way out of their affiliate door so to speak....

sponsorpimp 05-25-2011 12:47 PM

That's simply stupid and crazy...

adultzone 05-25-2011 12:54 PM

LOL Post that affiliate program over here!!

stever 05-25-2011 01:04 PM

actually this is very common practice it seems
lately i too wanted to get off all these FHGs mailing lists
not because i dont promote the sponsor anymore but just because i do not use any FHGs for promotion

most programs you can unsubscribe but some actually did say the same thing

no mailings = account deleted

pretty shitty and sad that you need to get useless email in order to remain active

YUP, do it :thumbsup

stever 05-25-2011 01:12 PM

btw if anyone reading this does not know how to shutoff mailings without disabling the affiliate in nats

in the nats mailing admin they have a link called "remove lists"
and in there you have a webmaster remove list and you can add any email address there and it wont send to that email address when you do mailings to webmasters

and after that you can post here and say thank you :1orglaugh

Yeah, I do like to see what people are up to, but I don't need the FHG or new banners sent to me when I don't have places to put the FHG or banners.

The aff. program in question does not use NATS or I would have told them how to remove me from their system. :)

u-Bob 05-25-2011 02:58 PM

that's why I use [email protected]
easy to filter.
easy to identify sponsors to blacklist in case you start receiving spam mails addressed to that specific email address.

Phoenix 05-25-2011 03:04 PM

why not just make a rule and put it in a folder?

Because I'm lazy. And, [email protected] goes to eight people in the company and is actually used by our guys to talk to programs that we do use.

The Heron 05-25-2011 03:48 PM

Change your email to their support one! That'll show em
