SEO guys, Bloggers, any experience with Blogpspot?

So I was having a casual chat with one of our affiliates this morning and the question came up, does Google give any advantage or disadvantage to Blogspot blogs over say a Wordpress blog setup on your own domain?

Anyone have some experience with this that can weigh in? :thumbsup

Google likes them (they own them).

blogs on blogspot can have nice possitions, but if you want to have blogspot blogs for backlinks, i never had a good experience with that ... :2 cents:

From my experience not at all. But I could have been testing it wrong.

I see less and less blogspot results in google searches actually compared to 1 or 2 years ago

WARNING!

In recent months BlogSpot has been quietly deleting adult blogs, even very non-spammy ones. Some respected sex bloggers who had been blogging on BlogSpot for many many years found their blogs deleted without warning or notice or recourse.

I can only assume that's a side effect of them deleting some of the spammier porn blogs. Probably they have employees clearing away the spammy blogs -- who got very poor instruction or who simply can't tell the difference between a real blog about sex and a porn spam farm.

Whatever the explanation, I think it makes BlogSpot a precarious place to do much adult blogging or link building. If you put any reasonable amount of effort into it, you're at risk of getting it all wiped away.

A couple of years ago It had a real advantage, now not so much. There is still some though.

I found tons of blogspot/blogger blogs stealing my content. Each and every time I complained about one of those thieves, Google took a solid stance and removed their entire blog. not just the post in question. I love Google for that.

BTW, they did the same with mainstream blogs who stole content.
