Domain age is considered to be based on continuous registration. So if a domain is dropped and re-registered, it has lost any previous "age" it has had. The domain is 1 day old. Period.

Complete bullshit

PGR 05-20-2011 12:17 PM

Thank you for jacking my thread guys, really smoothe.

Based on my experienced aged domains have a lot of value.

So if you`re accusing me of trying to bullshit people then you are way off.

Yes, but FreeBDSMPics.com has zero age.

PGR 05-20-2011 12:53 PM

Okay, I was under the impression that a domain is still considered aged, even if ownership changes hands. But I guess that is not technically the case. However, I still believe that a domain with 12 years of history, has some value to a search engine marketer. It's been my experience that these domains do rank quicker. But that's just my opinion, and I could just be lucky.

Anyway, I truly was not out to BS anyone.

Thanks for your input.

It is appreciated.

Denny 05-20-2011 01:03 PM

Domain age and domain history are two different things but both factors are probably considered in SEO.

I didn't want to jack your thread, just wanted to say you are incorrect.

Anyway good luck with the sale.

When a domain changes ownership it doesnt lose its age, but in your case it didnt change ownership, it was dropped, and then re-registered, so technically the age of your domain is 1 day.

:thumbsup

Thanks mate..

And I`m sorry about my initial response.

I shouldn`t have told you to leave the thread.

Just so we`re clear, I would never try to pull the wool over anyones eyes.. Not my style.

I will admit I`m new to domaining (have been a webmaster for 9 years) and I`m not 100% clear on the technicalities of domain history and age etc.

Also, I will readily admit I am in the biz of buying and selling dropped domains.

Sometimes I buy a domain and flip it the same day.

Anyway, sorry for my ignorance and thanks for understanding.

Thank you for the clarification.

And just want to say that I picked up a dropped domain last month and it is now about to hit page 1. Whether history has anything to do with that I can`t say for sure.

How did I accomplish this?

I ripped the content from original website (thank you internet archive) and setup a wordpress blog.

Was page 3 within a couple of days.

Added a couple of backlinks, now about to hit page 1.

There obviously was a reason the domain dropped, that's probably because it's real value is reg fee.

GAMEFINEST 05-20-2011 10:57 PM

its all good man

good luckw ith your sale

Not always the case.

Dropped domains are back ordrered and bid on all the time.

There are numerous reasons why a domain might be dropped and it`s not always because it`s worthless. Trust me.

Thanks for your input though.

Thanks dude.

Despite the drama the domain is still available.

2400 searches per month exact match. SHould be easy to hit top 3 for the main phrase `free bdsm pics` and a number of other BDSM phrases as well.

$100 or best offer.

Hey PGR,

Just sent you an email (liam at idrop me).

bns666 05-21-2011 06:41 PM

it's a nice domain and well worth the initial price of $125.

and as for the age goes... reg date is not the only factor, the other factor is when was it indexed first time.

good luck with the sale.

Agreed:thumbsup

The keywords are getting a fair bit of "exact" searches as well so regardless of kept age this is still a good little domain name. Good luck:winkwink:

MattP 05-22-2011 06:04 AM

2,400 EXACT searches for that term is not bad, considering its a 3 word term. Very good for SEO. I almost backorder it also :)

And yes, domain lost its age, but still good. Good luck.

PGR 05-22-2011 08:25 AM

Thanks very much for your words guys, much appreciated :)
