[HELP]Buying my own cable modem instead of using time warners
 

Has anyone ever done this? Any tips? Do i have to call them to activate it? Anything special I'm looking for?

Have you done this? If so - what did you buy? I need a setup to get wireless at a decent signal through out a 2500sqft home

I think you can get answers to all your T-W questions by calling them and asking for technical support.

I could also google or just attempt to figure it out my self

This is correct. I don't use the modems supplied to me by my isp, I buy my own and keep theirs as a backup in case mine goes down. But all you should have to do is call them and give them the MAC ID and they'll put it in their system and give permissions for it.

If it's anything like mine though, when there is a very bad outage, their system wants to always default back to the ones they supply, so this is a call you may have to make a few times before they get it. lol
