i respect the man for being able to beat the system.

Regardless of what he's done after football there's no denying that he was one of the all-time great running backs college and pro. Innocent or guilty everyone makes wrong choices in their lives and I'm sure he lives with all if it constantly. How not.. no one will let him forget it.

I hope his son is half as good as OJ was and that he's proud to have him around for pointers.

What position does his kid play? I'm supprised he's defense, but I guess playing running back would be just way to much pressure. Gretzky had to take his kids out of hockey because of the huge pressure and expectations on them.

Yes, because OJ is SUCH a good role model. Cocaine-addicted, woman-abusing murderer with a short temper and insane jealous streak who got acquitted because he was a black man with money, and could afford to hire the best sleazy lawyers hollywood can buy to play the race card. (Good message to send to impressionable youngsters in the black community).

But he was great on the gridiron, so all is forgiven. I guess living with the guilt is punishment enough.

I'm sure OJ's private detectives and investigators will eventually find the real killer, and put all this speculation to rest once and for all. He's been real public and concerned about finding the real killers after all, hasn't he? How many times did he use his influence to get the case on America's Most Wanted, and such?

At the VERY least, if the guy IS innocent of murder, he sure isn't innocent of beating the pulp out of his wife's face on occasion.

If we're gonna honor sports heros for their great accomplishments on the field, then let's at least pick someone who isn't a wife-abusing, double murderer, shall we?

Edit: And let's now go saying that famous atheletes arent role models. That's just a popular COP OUT that's used so they don't have to account for their bad behavior to the same public that made them heros to begin with. Atheletes make an impression on our kids weather they like it or not, and sometimes it doesn't matter what the parents say to their kids about them, they idolize them first because of what they do on the field, but then eventually find out about the other stuff too. You can teach your kids all about right and wrong, but when they idolize a sports figure that's being heralded as great, and that guy ends up to be a lowlife shitbag behind closed doors, the kids find out about that too... and it confuses the hell out of them at the very least.
