Anyone have bad vision

The past few weeks, I've been working 15 hours a day...and it seems like my vision is getting more and more fucked...things that aren't normally blurry are becoming blurry as shit....I hope I don't need glasses, this fucking sucks.

PersianKitty 01-24-2003 01:49 AM

easier question would be to ask who doesn't :)

stanton 01-24-2003 01:49 AM

i am blind like a fucking bat :(

jollyperv 01-24-2003 01:53 AM

But were you blind before you became a webmaster?

Dveron 01-24-2003 01:56 AM

Welcome to the world of the short sighted, enjoy your stay.

Probably a little sleep depervation. I do ths during long working sessions. Once an hour take a couple minutes and focus on something at a distance. Trees outside, clouds, typed letter from a few feet away. I think this helps or at least I think it helps.

Seriously, go get your eyes checked! This Exact thing happened to Eddie, My Husband. He was working long hours as a network admin, doing a lot of reading on the side and started to have a few "little problems" with blurry images etc. Blew them off for a couple of weeks thinking he was just tired from the 60 hour weeks. Long story short, went to Lenscrafters to see if he needed glasses ended up needing emergancy laser surgery the next morning for a ruptured blood vessal in his macula, (Termed wet macular degeneration) 15 thousand dollers later the progress has been stopped but he lost about 35% of the vision in one of his eyes. But, was told that he would have gone totally blind within 2 more weeks had it gone unchecked. Normally this only happens in people in thier late 60's+ Eddie was 32.

Get your eyes checked. Better safe than sorry.

jollyperv 01-24-2003 02:39 AM

Shit, sorry to hear that.

Maybe I'll just take a break....I've got no money for a doctor right now.

Carrie 01-24-2003 02:41 AM

Okay, now that you're panicked, lol...

Yes, you SHOULD get your eyes checked if things get blurry.
That being said, it's most likely eye strain. Eyes weren't made to stare at a close object for long periods of time. Take a break at least once an hour and get up from the computer desk, walk around, and make a point of actually LOOKING at other things. Not just that zombie-like march that you do on the way to the bathroom and back where you get into the bathroom and can't even remember walking in there, much less *seeing* anything on the way in.
Look out of your window, look across the room - anything that will get your eyes moving and looking at things further than the 2 feet that your monitor is.
You might want to increase the display size or text size on your screen also, so your eyes aren't straining to read size 2 Tahoma font on a 1024x768 screen (TINY!).

You only get one set of eyeballs dude..I would at least goto the opticians and see what they have to say, it's like 20 bucks or something for a checkup.

DarkJedi 01-24-2003 04:28 AM

no, but i buy contact lenses just for fun.
changing my eyes color = cool :glugglug

cant find the black ones anywhere. they'd look great.

Jakke PNG 01-24-2003 04:38 AM

I have a perfect vision, but I look bad.

Paul Markham 01-24-2003 04:45 AM

I've needed to wear glasses for short sighted since I was 9 and recently needed glasses for reading. This could be due to the hours I spend on a computer, looking at naked girls through the lens or jerking off. :Graucho

galleryseek 01-24-2003 04:47 AM

eye site used to be perfect.. all the time spent on the computer, can't really see too well at a distance anymore.

Oliver Klozov 01-24-2003 04:50 AM

Can't you go blind for jerking off to much?

Get a new monitor, a quality new monitor because the cheap ones will fuck up your eyes (quicker).

If you have a new monitor then go for an LCD monitoro as it wont fuck your eyes up at all. I noticed my eye sight stayed the same when i started using LCD monitors unlike the years of damage the CRT screen has done to me.
