Two Swedes jailed for life for Philippine Internet porn

More details would be interesting. But, I'm wondering who could be next? It sounds a rather outrageous to me. Don't most of the big cam companies have studios of models working various Asian (and other) countries? When I've visited the major cam sites it certainly appears to me that many of the models are working in "studio" type settings somewhere in Asia and others in Eastern Europe and Central and South America.

Two Swedes jailed for life for Philippine Internet porn

Two Swedes have been jailed for life in the Philippines for violating human trafficking laws by running a live Internet porn operation in a southern city that catered to foreigners.

The convictions were the first legal victory in the battle against foreign-operated porn operations in the Philippines, said Lalae Garcia of the Tubaga movement, a women and children rights group on the southern island of Mindanao.

"This is definitely a major victory for abused and exploited women," she told reporters after a court in Cagayan de Oro sentenced the Swedes and three Filipino accomplices.

Law enforcement agencies say cybersex, or providing sexually explicit material over the Internet, is a growing industry in many parts of the world, including in the Philippines, where there is perceived to be a low risk of arrest and high returns.

The court, in a May 6 judgment that was released on Tuesday, also fined the Swedes, Emil Andreas Solemo and Bo Stefan Sederholm, 2 million pesos ($46,500) each. The three Filipinos were jailed for 20 years and fined 1 million pesos each.

"Disrespect for Filipino women and violations of our laws deserve the strongest condemnation from this court," read part of the 25-page court decision.

Justo Yap, National Bureau of Investigation regional director, said 18 women, aged 19 to 24, some of whom were naked and sending live feeds to clients abroad, were rescued after a raid on a premises in April 2009.

The abused and exploited women can now work in a sweat factory for 12 hours a day and 1/10 the wages. LOL

The Sweeds are popular today :winkwink:

Did they not know it was illegal? I find it extremely hard to have any sympathy when people get arrested for doing something they know is illegal. The sentence seems really harsh but if you know it's illegal and you get busted, dont cry about it.

how many threads are there going to be on this today?

People think they can go to third world countries and do whatever they want. It doesn't always have a happy ending.

Speaking of the Philippines ... The following BBC program was very interesting. The conditions that so many in the Philippines are forced to live in are shocking. As a couple of people have pointed out in the comments, Philippine society and governments deserve blame (perhaps most of it) for many of the women working in the sex industry -- when there are few if any alternatives for them aside from sweatshop jobs for $1/day.

P.S. There are 3 episodes in this show series (bus driver, paramedic and midwife) and they are all worth watching.

:2 cents:

But more like 18 hour days.

Like every other 3rd world shit hole, it's generally perfectly OK for the locals to exploit people. It's usually only an issue when foreigners do it. Always exceptions to the rules, but this tends to be the general case.

There's a slight difference between a Filipino employing a Filipino in a KFC for peanuts and white guys going there to force (underage or not) girls to do sex shows on cam, not allowing them to leave the house.

For one thing the latter is illegal; in Sweden too, and every other 1st world utopia.

In fact the fact they couldn't get away with what they wanted to do in Sweden is probably the very reason why they went to the Philippines to do it. So fuck 'em. They made their bed...

You can be damn sure if a couple of immigrants went to Europe or the USA and did that to "local" girls there'd be a lot of enraged people talking about about "immigration" and how disgraceful it is that two people could do that to "our" women.

Everyone is the same; don't pretend "3rd world shitholes" are any worse in that respect. Given their history of being colonized and exploited by European and American invaders though, as well as enormous amounts of filthy sex tourists, it's remarkable how tolerant they are of foreigners.

If they were engaged in human trafficking then fuck them.

People like you make my brain hurt.

Running any porn site is illegal in Sweden - you know, 'saudi arabia of feminism' etc.

No webcam affiliate signups today?

Even Saint Markham thinks it's outrageous.

Obviously to the fucktard legal system in the Philipines, paying local girls to chat to American and European men via webcam constitutes human trafficking.

will76 05-11-2011 12:50 PM

LOL @ all of you people who hate / bash the US.

Stay in your "perfect" countries and get life in prison for running a cam studio with .10 cent an hour cam whores.

Good point, but no doubt this 'human trafficking' law was instigated by American and European feminist NGO lobbying.

Is it illegal to run pornsites in Sweden? I had no idea, thanks!

What is the problem here exactly? I don't see Filipinos crying about the US illegally whacking people in Pakistan last week and saying it doesn't constitute 'justice'. What they choose to do in their own country is their business, regardless of how "fucktard" you or Paul Markham happen to think it is. Anyone who doesn't like their laws should stay away from the place or simply not break the law there, rather than going there for the sole purpose of breaking the law, as these guys did.

Obviously you don't care that they used under aged girls or that they were not
allowed to leave whenever they wanted. Which would be exactly "human trafficking".

Well, maybe you just didn't read the case and just like shooting off your mouth
without considering the facts presented.

Shit like this causes me to be amused when people write about how great and good it will be for them to move out of the USA to some Third World Shithole............
